CB Radio?

Just wonderin if i was the only person who wants one of these? My buddy has one in his truck and it so fun to f*ck with people and usefull to find people to tell u were traffic and cops are. The only reason i dont have one is because of the big antenna u have to get for them. I would deffinately get one if theres one without the antenna.

incubus7d 11-12-2004 11:12 AM

there cool, i got some motorola one that has 13 channels and my firends and i use them to talk with each other and it picks up cop stations, they get mad when u come on it.

tonyt915 11-12-2004 11:15 AM

Does it have the big antenna though?

incubus7d 11-12-2004 11:24 AM

naw dude got little one, its looks like a nextel cell phone but you get 13 or 14 channels and you can hear everyone, but the problem with it is it only goes out like 3 or 4 miles its real small, there like 15 bucks a any radio shack

tonyt915 11-12-2004 11:28 AM

oh saweet i want one, i thought they were big, ever since i watched Smokey And The Bandit acouple of days ago i been wanting one in my car

shmik1 11-12-2004 11:29 AM

you can goto walmart and get a 40channel handheld
and a cigarette lighter plug for it aswell I had one before that had a 12" or so antenna the whole thing is about 16-18" or so
the body of it is like 8" maybe... i think they're around $50

shmik1 11-12-2004 11:30 AM

channel 9 cb channel isnt the same as a police scanner btw..

shmik1 11-12-2004 11:31 AM

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=1762568 << thats just one I found there are tons of others and millions of CB websites..

shmik1 11-12-2004 11:32 AM

http://www.installer.com/scanner.html << 3rd one down for $199 is a handheld police scanner, and you can program 100 police channels, around here we have 2 towns total of about 100k people and we have around 20 police chans I think..

tonyt915 11-12-2004 11:37 AM

im not lookin for scanners i want the kind where u can talk back to the people, like truckers have, CB RAdios, i want one of these kind just smaller and maybe with out an antenna on the car.

againifall 11-13-2004 02:23 PM

hit up a truck stop and just talk to truckers.. dont tell them yer gettin it for yer car though cuz they HATE that.. tell them yer gettin it for yer pop or some crap..

my stepdads a trucker.. he wont tell me anything cuz it goes against the trucker code or some crap..

import2nr 11-14-2004 05:48 PM

i think theyre awesome and id have one if it wasnt for the 6 foot antenna lol

kikoy 11-14-2004 06:23 PM

you can have a decent antenna(glass mount)....its aveailable @ radioshack...anyway on the scanner side you may want a dual trunking radio/scanner to get the cop/city/government channels......

and yeah i forgot to mention...i used to be a Amateur radio enthusiast before in the philippines(DU2-KKY) and on CB radio my call sign is KKY-63129 here in st. louis....

neocivic01 11-14-2004 06:26 PM

joy ride

acurastype01 11-14-2004 07:08 PM

^^^^^^^^^good movie

import2nr 11-14-2004 07:43 PM

so you dont have to have the huge ass antenna?

tonyt915 11-14-2004 08:14 PM

^^ sweet no big antenna

import2nr 11-14-2004 08:41 PM

uh oh, cb radio here we come

tonyt915 11-14-2004 08:58 PM

Lets get a group buy

shmik1 11-14-2004 09:00 PM

just goto walmart you can get a glass mount for $15ish and a moutable deck style cb for $40, w/all mounting brackets and stuff to do a hardwire.. $55 would get u a cb w/ a cellular style looking antenna it'd fit just fine, wouldnt look out of place at all..

tonyt915 11-14-2004 09:02 PM

where do yall think a good mounting place inside the car would be?

import2nr 11-14-2004 09:16 PM

under seat

shmik1 11-14-2004 09:47 PM

^^ little hard to hear it or change channels if its under the seat tho

shmik1 11-14-2004 09:49 PM

i usually see em around where the coin tray is, but i've never seen em in civics, maybe under the deck if there is enough gap so that the speaker isnt covered/muffled..

shmik1 11-14-2004 09:54 PM

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...uct_id=2606837 << $34.96
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...732264001&rd=1 << $15 ... thats the exact same one i've seen @ walmart just cant find it on their website...

as i said earlier.. this is the cheapest setup i've seen.. only things u need are those 2 items, then u just wire 3 wires power (always on) power (acc, when the car is on) and a ground, then mount it somewhere and put the mic holder somewhere too, and thats the whole setup minus the antenna install, i've never done glass mounts before tho... seems simple enough..

import2nr 11-14-2004 10:34 PM

cool, i want one :)

SOHC 11-14-2004 10:42 PM

i used to mess with that sheeit when i was 14 or 15. my cousin and i both had a set. i had a regular cb radio for a car, with a big whip (antenna) i think it was about 12 feet tall (i mounted it on the roof of the house). he had a portable hand held, we both spent about the same, and his hand held had just as good reception as my setup.

its fun for a while, but it gets boring fast. people on those things all have their own "handle" or what we call screen names or user id. me and my cousin made up our own handles and had fun pissing off the whackos on the spanish channel, and talking about random stuff with manly female truckers ;)

zachgeyer 11-14-2004 10:50 PM

there way fun

kikoy 11-15-2004 12:02 AM

as i said......its cheap to work w/ cb.....wait till you get the amateur radio...then spend like hundreds on it....
