What are some RSX competitors?

I want to trade my 02 civic for a better sporty car. I'm thinking of an RSX but what else is on the market around the same price as a used non-type-s RSX? I don't like the celica so that's out. but beyond that what else? Don't want an older car then I have, maybe 2001 and up.

jttegx 10-28-2004 11:20 PM

scion tc
wrx (non-sti)
civic si
neon srt-4
miata?

theirs more but cant think right now

stl01civic 10-28-2004 11:23 PM

celica

jttegx 10-28-2004 11:28 PM

^he already mentioned about celica but to add few more...

-sentra se-r vspec
-tsx? i guess its a little off budget

CivicsRdBest 10-28-2004 11:31 PM

3! And what else...

AznChinksta 10-28-2004 11:36 PM

Well the celi gts is really the closest, but theres also
Mazdaspeed protege
VW gti
eclipse gts
All i can think of other than all the othere posted already

WhiteCastle 10-28-2004 11:41 PM

I like the srt-4......their new orange color looks good on the car too!

AznChinksta 10-28-2004 11:49 PM

srt4 has nothin to offer, other than str8 line accelaration

What does rsx offer then?

Mazda6
Miata
SRT4
WRX
RSX Type S
Accord 6speed

dalaw 10-28-2004 11:54 PM

sentra spec v
corolla xrs
lancer rallliart

PrYnCeQT 10-28-2004 11:58 PM

is that it? man this is a small market. The RSX and the integra are my best bets. The cheapest WRX I see on automart is like 20k and plus I don't like the style. Neon = no. Miata is too small and not really in the same market.

dre2600 10-29-2004 12:09 AM

I think that a V6 Accord and Mazdaspeed Protege, as well as the WRXs recommended here don't really fall into the same class as a base model RSX, maybe a Type S, but not a base model.

I'm going to throw in my two cents for the new Mazda 3, made in Japan, 0.87g on the skidpad.

Used Mustang GT or Cobra, or a SS Camaro. The Cobra or SS would rape any of the other cars you've listed in acceleration, and the camaro would rape in handling too if it had the SLP suspension package. You can find either for around 20k if you're looking at 99-00 models.

tripledoublegs 10-29-2004 12:33 AM

Accord V6 coupe
Matrix XRS
Ion Redline

Atticus 10-29-2004 12:54 AM

might be able to find an older trans am ws6, if you can pay for the gas.

exclusive_vtec 10-29-2004 12:58 AM

s2000... get a used one ull love it
i would go with the type-s rsx tho.. maybe a used one..

Skunk2ner 10-29-2004 01:25 AM

i just saw a used 2002 rsx-s in the paper for $15,500. i couldn't believe my eyes.

lkm 10-29-2004 03:26 AM

base rsx is nothing but overpriced civic.

the type s new is 24k. for that price, save a little more and get a S2k or MR2{dunno if they still make them}

edit-mr2 has mid engine config, 2215lbs stock, 6 speed sequential manual gearbox with steering wheel shifting,

civicskater 10-29-2004 06:45 AM

I say get a scion tC when they put the factory supercharger out for it...probably still be cheaper and its toyota so you know it'll be reliable

DaPipeLayer 10-29-2004 08:59 AM

Either get a used type s or don't get an rsx at all, especially if you're thinking of modding. You can also save a few more and get a used s2000, they run at the same price or even a little cheaper than a brand new base rsx. I would personally save for the used s2000 for the pimp factor and the fun you will have in that car.

PrYnCeQT 10-29-2004 09:17 AM

common guys, keep it real. Used s2000? I'm in the market to spend about 17k CAD here which is what I can get for a used base rsx/premium depending on the deal.

I was looking at the scion, looks good. Can I even get that in canada?

You really haven't searched. There are used 2000 or 2001 s2000's going for 19k and less. I don't know what that is in CAD, but if you go to autotrader.com you will find them. Theres A LOT of higher end cars you can find around that price used.

you think i haven't searched? you should roughly know that 17k in CAD is not going to be less in USD. infact, its about 22.5k which is not exactly the same price and over my budget.

DaPipeLayer 10-29-2004 09:35 AM

Alright, then get a used rsx-s becuase like I said and a few others, IF you're going to mod, you want the type s. Just incase you haven't, make sure you can afford the insurance on some of these cars.

I can't belive nobody in here even mentioned a Tiberon ( not sure if I spelled it right) I have known people who have got them for 17k new, and they have a six speed, six cylinder , stock 17's. I have also driven them, they are impressive, lots of squirt, little dough, plenty of potential.

exturbo6 11-23-2004 01:55 PM

sentra or the si

Arith 11-23-2004 06:49 PM

only car that comes close to the type-s for much cheap...

Ralliart
SpecV

no other car has similar HP or enough torque like these 2. Also in some cases you could own a type-s owner. Ive seen both these cars take type-s owner.

ZodCivik 11-23-2004 06:55 PM

Id go for the Scion, its so sexy and affordable.

dannn 11-23-2004 06:59 PM

yea i'll have to give it up for the new tiburon. my friend has the gt v6 and its pretty nice.
