New family car: Audi A4 or Caddy CTS?

My father is considering a new family car and has it narrowed down to two: The Audi A4 3.0 V6 Quattro or the Cadillac CTS V6 (non-V edition). My vote is for the Audi but we need your help. Below are some sample pics. :_beer:

Caddy... unless you don't mind the car being in the shop more than in your garage.

calm down. its all a matter of opinion. if you think a car is ugly, do you buy it? No, its a simple matter of opinion. If you felt the civic was an ugly and unreliable car, you woudlnt buy it.

I personally find the car to be ugly (lines dont flow or something...) and i am not a fan of caddilac's. and when i look at the money you would spend on it , i find there are better options.

My vote is for the Audi, and I was at the Detroit Auto Show today, and they had a 3.0 with a 6-speed stick shift. The stick was sooo nice.

Either way, I would lease, because the Audi will probably have some problems, and the CTS won't have any resale value.

Ever think about the 04 Acura TL? It is cheaper than both of those, and is bigger/nicer/more reliable. My dad just bought one and we both love it!

sadboy916 01-17-2004 08:23 PM

so how would you know thast the new tl is more reliable than the cts? im not saying anything about the tl its a sick car but the reliable stuff stoped few years back gm and ford EVEN DODGE are putting out great cars now.

HustleLikeMOFO 01-17-2004 09:02 PM

you cant really say recent GM cars are reliable now, RECENTLY..... they are new so there are not many problems.... give them 5-6 years and they will show their true GM colors.

i would get the Audi... i think it looks much better and i'm pretty sure the resale value will be much higher then the caddy if your dad cares about that.

In recent quality surveys Cadillac is somewhere near the top, right below Buick, Porsche and Toyota I believe? They've been rising steadily through the years in terms of quality.

To the best of my knowledge though Audi (as well as VW) have been dropping in terms of quality and though its much more pronounced in VeeDubs, quality in Audis has gotten a little shittier too. I think they're relying too much on nice interiors and what specs look like on paper to sell their cars.

No, I said UNLESS you don't care if the car is being fixed all the time. In otherwords, get the Caddy. Audis are electronic nightmares. They never work and constantly need electrical things replaced.

modoman 01-17-2004 10:48 PM

get the audi... gotta loved german engineering and i personally just cant stand boxxy cars with hard edge lines

xX03EXx 01-17-2004 10:59 PM

Caddy, hands down. My dad has it and I absolutely love it. There are so many standard features that come on it for the pretty cheap price they charge. Not to mention the automatic transmission they have on it is the same as in the bmws, 5 spd and lightning fast at shifting. The ride is so nice and firm and the rubber is very nice. (I am talking about the sport package with the 17" rims.) I dare someone to tell me something negative about it. I roasted this kid in an eclipse just last night lol he hand the gauge pod and all. Man he looked dumb.

TonySTiX 01-17-2004 11:11 PM

Imo, CTS -- I never really liked Audi's...The caddy looks really good and its got balls...

modoman 01-17-2004 11:54 PM

i wish they couldve done with the sts what they did with the cts...

DUDE, WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU?

...it's a domestic M5 ;)

dalaw 01-18-2004 01:12 AM

I'd say get an Accord V6 or TL. They have a good balance between comfort and performance.

Seven07 01-18-2004 06:06 AM

Go for the Audi......

Civictuner04 01-18-2004 01:46 PM

**cough** ACURA TL** cough**

Definitely look at the Acura TL. Great Car, backed by Acura's Legendary reputation and reliability, you cant go wrong. Super torquey engine, smooth ride, great seats and sound system, and they look great and have many options for colors, both interior and exterior.

CivicsRdBest 01-18-2004 02:00 PM

Hmm... If you need AWD go for the Audi. It's great for snow and daily rides.

If you prefer RWD cars then go for the Caddy. It would probably have a sportier ride.

MHO: I like the look of the Audi and I'm used to FWD. So I'd go for that because AWD is a nice step up and the winters here are horrible.

The Caddy on the other hand is also really nice and edgy. It was built to compete against the BMW 3-series.

The Caddy is a new vehicle built on a new platform (compared to other Caddy's) and I don't know of many complaints about it. Audi's are also up there because they tend to be fairly relaible too.

I'd also check out the new TL.
