Winter Storage for 2017
 

Hi,
I just bought a brand new 2017 Civic Touring that I am going to store away from the harsh salt and sand of a New England winter. Storage is in an unheated garage for 5 months.
I understand that I must wash and wax the car prior to putting a cover on it. Do you all recommend fuel stabilizer? If so what brand? I also know that I must plug up all of the external areas that could lead to the engine and or exhaust system so that the mice don’t get in. Do you recommend anything for the tires? I have heard that there are accessories that can help reduce tire flat spots. What are they called and where do I get them? ( jack stands are not an option). I am looking for any additional storage tips as well.

If it's in a garage I wouldn't put a cover on it.
You're going to wash it as soon as you start driving it again anyway.

Is the garage well sealed....will mice get in? If mice get in, there's a good chance of them finding wires and hoses to eat just about anywhere on the car.

A battery maintainer should be connected and kept plugged in IMO.

Start the car and drive it at least 20 minutes each month if possible.
Car wash with undercarriage sprayer to get road salt off if needed

Agreed. If parked inside a garage, there is no need for car cover.

I don’t think it is wise to drive the car unless the roads are clear. Not sure a simple car wash would remove all the salt. How about to start the engine and drive it in and out the garage for a few minutes every month?

Question: How about the engine oil?

I recomend some fuel stabalizer a batery maintanier is a must if not a big unit get trickle charger. Also if you get the chance start it up every now and then just to get the fluids flowing.
