Re: new photography thread Some tips: Learn to get yourself out of your shot, including reflections and shadows. Use polarizers, tripods, or shoot at an angle, but try to get out of the shot as much as possible. Try not to use as harsh flash, bounce the flash off something; a ceiling, a wall or something. The natural lighting off the left looks great, but the flash at the top right is way too harsh and artificial. But great idea to throw leaves onto everything. Here are some of my latest works, been doing a lot of cityscapes. https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2835/...dccc2133_c.jpg Bay Bridge | Flickr - Photo Sharing!, on Flickr https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5462/...3dbb238f_c.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/65433924@N05/8964312890, on Flickr https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7401/...778dc969_c.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/65433924@N05/8963113197, on Flickr |
Re: new photography thread Thanks for the tips man! I thought something was a little off on the pic and after you mentioned the lighting I could see it. I didn't use a flash, that's a lamp but a flash probably would have been better. I need to get some filters also. Those pics you took are awesome!!! The bridge one is probably my favorite. I'm not ready for night time shooting yet, still need to practice more daytime stuff. |
Re: new photography thread Yeah, I figured it was probably not a flash after I posted that. Doubted you'd have an external flash with your setup. Try turning the light upside down and hitting a ceiling, or putting a blank sheet of paper in front of the lamp, you'll get much better results with the lighting diffused. Don't be shy with night time photography. I find it a lot easier than day time photography, simply because you don't have to rely on the lighting of the day. Just set it on a tripod or a flat surface and let it go to town. |
Re: new photography thread I never thought about night time photography like that. I'll have to give it a try when I am somewhere that I can take night pics. Are the SF city pics HDR? |
