Does fipk II alter gas mileage ? improve?

Fipk II drop or impove gas mileage in our vics?

gearbox 04-10-2004 07:38 PM

I had an AEM SRI and it raised gas mileage by 2mpg. When I took it off to go back to stock, it went back down. The FIPK is probably the same. Usually they increase mileage, as long as your driving style stays the same. Alot of people like to drive harder to hear the intake, then the mileage drops.

Philip 04-10-2004 07:53 PM

yeah...I like to slam on the throtle then close it quick. It sounds similar to a BOV....now please don't flame on me if you actually have a BOVon your ride.

spencerkam 04-10-2004 08:29 PM

i love that whooshing noise of the intake. oh and my mpg also want up with an AEM SRI

Krepoort 04-12-2004 04:06 PM

My mileage went up a tiny bit. Like .5 MPG.

depends on the heaviness of the foot

kjgracing 04-12-2004 04:27 PM

ditto...but it is the best intake for our cars...3rd intake for me, and this outperforms AEM CAI!

DO a search for the dynos on K & N FIPK II, Injen, and Aem.

RELATED QUESTION:

will drop in K&N air filter increase mileage?

StealthCivic 04-12-2004 09:26 PM

I have the drop in K&n now, and I am getting the fipk II, I think the k&n
drop does nothing to imporve gas mileage....our civics already get 38 mpg

EManEX 04-12-2004 09:43 PM

I found that in my car the K&N drop in did improve gas mileage by .5-1 mpg.

born2xLr8 04-13-2004 12:53 AM

I didn't notice a significant difference from my fipk. Like someone else said...it's all in the foot and your driving style.

CapYoda 04-13-2004 08:37 AM

duno about the FIPK, since I haven't drive econo style for awhile..

but when I had the drop in filter.. an obvious 3-5 mpg gain. thats a butload.

went from average of 31 to 35-37 for me (mix of city and highway driving at high speed)

but even driving with the occasional lead foot, I still get around 30+ with the FIPK. so its not killing mpg or anything.

zen_master 04-13-2004 10:51 AM

holy crap...is there something wrong with my car..

i only get 300 miles with 12 gallon....

this is normal city (a bit highway) driving..

with K&N drop filter...
granny drive like, 2500-3000rpm shifting...

bad?

maybe caused by cold environment?

GideoN 04-13-2004 11:00 AM

Hell, I get 400-440 miles to a tank and that's without an intake. And I drive with a heavy foot.

zen_master 04-13-2004 01:13 PM

oh sh*t...........

Houston, TX, that is..

I'm in Buffalo, NY, with wretched winter...

oh man..............................400??

*drooool* i want it..

What could be the problem....................
filter's OK, oil's OK, maybe spark plugs?

OMFG........................400.... *drool*

hm, 1500 miles to go...
Im going to change the spark plugs, oil with 0w20 M1, tire rotation...

damn it, i want 400 miles per/tank

CapYoda 04-13-2004 06:32 PM

yeah that is off. I get 400+ easily..

how many miles on ur car?

zen_master 04-13-2004 07:02 PM

man, this is bad...

my car's mileage is 25K....

i haven't drive my car in summer time though...so i dunno for sure...

*gulp*

man, i hope my car can reach 400...

this is so terrible

GideoN 04-13-2004 07:27 PM

52,000 miles and making 400 easy on regular unleaded and with no other mods other than my GReddy Evo Cat-back. I would think that you would be close to that atleast.

zen_master 04-13-2004 07:47 PM

cmon guyssssssssssssssssss

damn, u guys making me drool even more..

i though that my vic's gonna give me at least 400...

damn.......now what..

anyway, im gonna wait until summer...then letsee bout that again..

maybe my spark plugs are dead...

have u guys change it?

hehe, dude on houston...cmon man...all of us know that ur state is dry and hot.

GideoN 04-15-2004 10:51 AM

Nope. Everything is stock except the exhaust.

dirtySAMURAI 04-15-2004 05:25 PM

I get 300miles per tank IF I'M LUCKY!! Usually I get 200 miles per tank. And that's with granny driving with the occasional (like once every month) WOT.

oh..and i'm stock as stock can be.

zen_master 04-15-2004 08:21 PM

fiuhhhhhh

that's a relief......

cos' i always got 300+

*drool* I want 400+

anyway, i got few mods in the next 1500 miles...

Mobil 1, 0W20
>> F***ing Toyota dealer (where I bought my used Honda) overfill my oil....and i think they don't use syn oil...

NGK Iridium IX
>>my spark plugs right now might probably killed by the previous owner....might be the cause of my low MPG....

Dirty carburator or throttle body......
>>might caused by previous owner too.....and "hibernation" in dealer...
>>Im gonna try to fix it using the throttle body cleaner...chevron, perhaps?

hm, what else? any ideas?
