has any one bought these? do they work?? any long term dammage forseen?

civic-king 07-28-2003 10:36 AM

i mean $4.00??!!?? what???

HondaLuver 07-28-2003 10:55 AM

no... you will not get that much power from simple boltons, just save ur money and get a rsx type s swap., and you can work right now on the looks/sound area of ur car for now, but if you bought a vic for performance, why did you buy a ULTRA low emitions veichal?

civicvtec1ps 07-28-2003 11:00 AM

no, doesnt work.
scam bs crap.

civic-king 07-28-2003 11:02 AM

you have perchased(civictec1ps) and not been happy?

civic-king 07-28-2003 11:03 AM

and there is a large difference between $4.00 and $4,000.00 for an engine.....that engine is a LEV also.....

if you want to go faster,
do either turbo or engine swap.
you wont get anythnig out of bolt ons on d17.

02NCcivic 07-28-2003 11:08 AM

there's a saying that if it sounds to good to be true then it probably is and that would definitely go for a 20hp chip

Royando 07-28-2003 11:09 AM

purchased one and gained 400 HP and planning on buying couple more

civic-king 07-28-2003 11:14 AM

i can not use a K20(or rsx, rsx-s) if my perpose is to create a fast, economical, inline foor, sohc!! i don't need the brute strength of the twin cam, i prefur the lightweight(about 85 lbs) single cam, to the bulky k20. when i am finnished, my D17 (bored D18) will kick any "lard-weight" ***** K20.....

cambo 07-28-2003 11:29 AM

d16 - ulev
k20 - lev

theres a difference there.

cambo 07-28-2003 11:30 AM

opps..i mean d17

curbsquirrel 07-28-2003 11:32 AM

i dont know why anybody would prefer a SOHC D series engine over a DOHC K series engine. Ivtec has way more potential, and alot more advantages i think. I drive an 02 Si, and all i have to say is that i will take on any D series motor any day of the week.

sacrifice the weight and get an engine that is a million times better than any D series...

lol wow that's way cool. I wish they sold that for my car lol or maybe I could put the d-17 in my car buy a grip of those chips and race against indy cars!!! lol :_doh:

civic-king 07-28-2003 11:52 AM

single cam is the way to go.......k can eat it,...i wish i lived over on the east(not), then i'd show you what a piece of crap your 02 si is....over weight and over priced......

Skunk2ner 07-28-2003 11:52 AM

'superchips' claim to add like 10-15% hp... i dunno about that. i'd say you might get 5 hp out of a chip. but the real magic is on automatics, adjusts the shifting points.

i can see where you're coming from, i'm going to try to work up my D17 as much as possible, but i know that a DOHC is just way better at creating power, no doubt about it. DOHC has more potential, even if it is heavier, it will just make crazy power where a SOHC will not.

civic-king 07-28-2003 11:55 AM

i can do anything to my d17 that can be done to the K20 for cheaper, at the same time being lighter, quicker, and more "low profile."

MagicRacing18 07-28-2003 12:05 PM

No, infact you cant do anything to you D17 cheaper for a K20 due to the fact that many parts are not out for the D17 so they need to be special order stuff. Also, with the same mods you put into your D17, put them in a K20 and the K20 would win all day long. K20's can be pushed over 400hp with the proper tuning and combo of parts, you will never get there with a D17, regardless of how much money you dump into it.

400hp? that's a bit much for the old front wheel drive........

civic-king 07-28-2003 12:15 PM

............and also it has a duel cam.....i no wante', you can not race a k20 in the 'single cam' series. it is a lot more fun and a bigger challange. the duel series races; a k20 will get blown away by a cellica or a focus or a vw or a bmw.......the list goes on and on. single cam is more "digressed" and is a more specialized class, plus it is usually more money to be won on an account of less pertisipants and more skill with engine building......

Look at some of the K20A powered integras in Japan, pushing easily over 400Hp

civic-king 07-28-2003 12:19 PM

.......can you say, "torque steer?"

um... no you can't do whatever a K20 can. 8 valves cannot do what 16 can....

i don't know if you watch speed touring car races, but the RSX-S is rocking the feild. No focus' in sight... no celicas... no veedubs... they're way back in the field and the RSX-S is up front.

From superchips.com : Except for the Mazda B series trucks and Tribute, Superchips, Inc. USA will no longer offer any performance chips or tuners for import vehicles ............

????

MagicRacing18 07-28-2003 12:33 PM

Thats because they are a fraud! LOL.. The only chip to get would be a JET. Like $230 and well worth it.

civic-king 07-28-2003 12:36 PM

the d17 has 16 valves......all hondas newer than 92 have 16 valves!!(before 92 ???.....who cares?)
