92 civic dash lights not working Just bought a 92 civic dx base model has a b16 swap(supposedly). Anyways I don't have dash lights or hvac lights. I've looked online about fuses and all of them test good, also took dimmer switch out and jumped the rd and black wires and still nothing. Took cluster out and there are 2 green plugs that don't have anything going to them. Also tried swapping bulbs and still nothing. Anybody help? |
Re: 92 civic dash lights not working Fuse 19 in the dash box good? Got all the taillights and park lights? Pick a dash light that doesn't work. Get a voltmeter. Figure out if the light is missing the positive or the negative. Wait wait wait..... Took cluster out and there are 2 green plugs that don't have anything going to them. My diagram shows 5 connectors. 2 gray 2 green 1 yellow |
Re: 92 civic dash lights not working As stated all fuses are good. But I don't get any lights except headlights when I turn lights in. When I took the cluster out there are 2 green plugs that aren't there and the wires aren't anywhere to be found. I thought those were for power options and cruise which my car doesn't have. |

As stated all fuses are good. But I don't get any lights except headlights when I turn lights in. So no park or tail lights, right? Check fuses. Not just for being good or bad, I mean see if there is battery power (+) to each side of the fuses: Use a voltmeter or test light to probe for voltage on the exposed metal tips of the fuse. You do not remove any fuses to test. http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/do..._fuse_test.jpg http://www.agcoauto.com/content/imag...check_fuse.jpg http://www.freeasestudyguides.com/gr...ting-fuses.gif (random google images) Turn the headlights on Check fuse 19 in the dash fusebox. It should have power on both tips of the fuse when the headlight switch is on. If no power on that fuse on either side, go to headlight switch and check for battery (+) on the red/green wire. (backprobe the terminal without disconnecting the harness from the switch) (You could actually use a fused jumper wire -- touch battery + to that fuse and see if the rest of the lights can work too) When I took the cluster out there are 2 green plugs that aren't there and the wires aren't anywhere to be found. Re: 92 civic dash lights not working I got all the exterior lights to work and bought a different cluster yesterday and lights still do not work! I've also read about having an aftermarket radio can make this happen? |
Re: 92 civic dash lights not working I got all the exterior lights to work and bought a different cluster yesterday and lights still do not work! I've also read about having an aftermarket radio can make this happen? Unplug the radio harness just in case it's wrong for now.... Spin the dial on the dash light dimmer. Nothing? Pull out that unit. Is it unplugged? In that connector, Jumper 2 wires together, use a paper clip to test or something: Red wire to Black wire. Turn the headlight switch on.... Got dash lights on now? Maybe not in the cluster, but in all the switches, lighter, shifter, heater controls? |
Re: 92 civic dash lights not working Ok so rebuilding the motor and bought hids. Installed them and turned lights on and dash lights came on. I unhooked the battery , came back 5 minutes later to play with the dimmer and hooked it back up and now the dash lights don't work anymore again. |
