Bad input shaft bearing... how dangerous?

Hey guys,

I found an awesome write up here https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...save-some.html

which told me that the noise I've been hearing is the input shaft bearing.

Its been bad for years but its slowly getting more noisy. Doesn't help that the tranny leaks. I've had to refill it a few times.

My question is: in the state it would have to be in to make noise -- how much longer will it last?

When it goes what else will it damage?
Will it be a slow degrade or a catastrophic failure?
Since its the input shaft... chances are when it fails the car wont move .... right?

I got a 200k 98 lx, the motor still runs well, I got the timing belt done at 175k so I hope to keep this thing to 300k at least.

I see replacement trans on ebay with 50-100k miles on them for under 400 bucks...
