99 Civic EX - No Crank No Start Hello, I have a 99 Honda 5 spd manual Civic EX which ceased cranking this afternoon. For the first time in its 15 year life, it has a mechanical problem. The engine won't crank at all; no noise, no clicking - starter is good, fuses look good, headlights come on normal (not dim) dash lights... everything is normal in the on position. When I go to start it's as if I'm not pushing in the clutch (which I am doing.) Dash, dome etc do not dim when I try to start. It will bump start (Push and and start in second gear while rolling) engine runs great and smooth. I also did a test of the clutch engage switch (?) by placing a paper clip between the wires with still no change. Apart from a battery, any other suggestions of things I can try? |
Re: 99 Civic EX - No Crank No Start I also did a test of the clutch engage switch (?) by placing a paper clip between the wires with still no change. There are 2. One is for the computer, the other is for the starter. Rubber bumper is gone off the clutch pedal and can't push the clutch/starter safety switch? GIS starter wiring diagram, looks close.....Get your volt meter and have fun! http://ww2.justanswer.com/uploads/am...8_213255_1.gif |
Re: 99 Civic EX - No Crank No Start Thought there was only one switch (oops) found fragments of a bluish purple material and actually thought I had walked on a crayon - I see the pad for switch B and it's the same material... Looks like the pad for switch A has fallen appart. Horrible Orlando FL heat is killing all the rubber parts on this civic... |
Re: 99 Civic EX - No Crank No Start Problem solved - thanks :-) |
