cutting a/c belt and removing idler pulley bracket

hi,

i don't use a/c at all...in fact i don't even think mine works at all. So i've decided to cut the a/c belt off. also i was going to remove the idler pulley bracket because the a/c belt isn't there any more.

is it safe to remove the idler pulley bracket and continue to run your car.

i would think it would be safe as long as the a/c belt isn't there any more.

by the way i have an automatic d16y7 engine

Re: cutting a/c belt and removing idler pulley bracket

If all that is on that belt is the compressor and the idler/adjuster pulley (NOT the alternator), then you should be safe to chop it.

I probably wouldn't mess with the idler pulley at all, make sure it is tight so it can't fall off. But yes you can remove it if you want.
