97 civic lx flashing headlights

I have a 97 honda civic LX, and the other day the speedometer started going up and down, now it does not work. At the same time the door locks started locking and unlocking and the headlights are flashing. I went to autozone and they tested my battery and said it needed to be replaced, so I replaced it. They tested my alternator and said that also need to be replaced because when I idle the headlights get brighter. They also did a diagnostics check and gave me the codes P128 and P0500? So I am on the fence about replacing my alternator, do it sound like I need a new one? Has anyone else had any problems like this and have any suggestions? Thanks!

Go to a different location and have the alternator tested again now that you have a new battery.
