MPG Improvements? Own: 1997 Civic EX Sedan Present MPG: 32-33.5 MPG Question: Is there any MPG advantage to a Ram Air Intake? I do not care about performance increases, I just want to maximize my gas mileage. I have not found info regarding gas mileage increses in these products, but would appreciate any real world experiences from members who have had sucsess with air intakes or other methods to increasing mileage. I am still running the stock honda air filter and air box. Thank You. |
I would think one would help get better mileage, i guess i really dont know for sure. I dont pay any attention at all to mpg so i couldnt tell ya. |
That mileage isnt too bad though. What is your aim that you want to achieve? |
No MPG advantage with ram air... If more air is added then more fuel is burned in the process as well.. so MPG would go down maybe not dramatically but it will go down... |
Cold air intake usually increases mpg by at least 1-2 miles. |

Exactly... i dont know why people say mods will give you better mpg.. how is it possible? Your usually burning more fuel with the extra power you're giving the car.. |
Try this I ran Royal Purple synthetic oil 5w30 at my first oil change on my 06 Civic EX and I immediately spiked from 30 mpg in town to 33.5 mpg. The interstate sucks though because the RPM is extremely too high with the standard tranny at 85 mph and I average about 38 mpg highway. |
