Inverter question... Ok I am building a computer to be in my car and I was wondering what kind of wattage I will need out of an inverter |
your powersupply should have a wattage rating on it, I think that should do, like 250, 300, 350 watts, something around there. Just get a really big one |
u have tog et a big ass one i cant even do a 550 watt for a desktop pc takes up to much wattage.. |
I ran a desktop pc in my car for quite awhile running with just a 250 watt. |
ok those two contridicted each other... would it be the wattage of the power supply for my computer? |
how big was ur desktop b.c i cant even run that it runs or just donest work i though u need a heavy duty oine to do it |
a 300 watt supply should be more than adequate |
hum.. dont know why my gateway wont do it lol |
400 wat PSU = for a house = 120 volts = drawing (for the sake of argument) like 3 amps of current. 300 watt inverter = car = 12 volts = (for the sake of argument) 25 amps of current. ya, i think you will be JUST fine. wait, did i get my math bass ackwards? understudy! (seriously someone should confirm this) |
dont forget that if ur going to put a standard, CRT type monitor, its going to draw a TON of current, and use a TON of power |
sorta off topic but also an invertor question. now i have my power invertor wired and its sittin under the drivers seat. (*intvertor is one from Interact. they make alot of video game accessories). now i also have my PS2 under my seat also. from what i understand this is the reason im getting a whining noise, since my signal cables are pretty close to my power invertor. could i just fix this by wraping the power invertor in foil? or something to that effect? thanks Mike |
see i have a p4 1.3ghz 128megs of ram with a cdrw geforce 3 car that has a video out put that i was goin to hook up to the screen in my car but i have a 300 watt inverter max peak its lik 600 and it dont work at all .. it like wont turn on or nething .. think i need a smallier computer or a bigger inverter |
