HID lights problem.. Well to start off I have a silver '05 Honda Civic EX special edition 2 door coupe. 0h and I'm new here and this is my first thread so hello to whom ever may be reading this. :) 0k so I really want to get 10000K HID lights but I heard that it's illegal here in California to have that on a car that doesn't come with it. I'm not too scared to go illegal because one can get away with it but the problem is that I'm allready a whack ass driver and I'm going to be adding more parts to my car soon so I don't want to become a police magnet and have to take out all of these accesories, which will be a waste. I just got 15% tint on all 5 today so my next mission is to accomplish getting a Bi-Xenon HID kit. So should I go with the nice ass blue lights in the 10000K and risk it or the 8000K softer blue ones and manage? Which one will look better and which size and type do I need for my car type? Thanks for reading! Please help me out by replying. :) |
Re: HID lights problem.. the 10000k is gonna be dimmer than your stock halogen headlights. the 8000k will be a little brighter, and pure blue color, but for best light output you should stick with 4300k or max of 5000k. anything more is a waste cause youre not gonna be able to see anything. and with a white kit, the cops are much less likely to notice. |
Re: HID lights problem.. ^^Hmm well I really wanted some blue in it so maybe 8000k would be legit. I don't know though because maybe white would still be all right.. |
Re: HID lights problem.. 8000k is like pure blue. 6000k is a light blue/intense white n idk what 10000k is. purple? |
Re: HID lights problem.. yeah pretty much 4300k bright white 5000k crisp white 6000k blue white 8000k blue 10000k purple |
Re: HID lights problem.. 0h what 1000K is purple?! That's odd I could've sworn it was blue... Well then I think it's between 6000K and 8000K. I guess 6000K would still be legit so I guess that's cool ? |
Re: HID lights problem.. 0h by the way, thanks mister gearbox and Envy! |
Re: HID lights problem.. 6000k will still look blue tinted, but you might be able to get by with saying its white. its alot much brighter than 8000k. would look like those really old hid cars with 4-5 yr old bulbs that changed colors already. |
Re: HID lights problem.. 0k So what do you want me to do mister gearbox? I can't tell which is best! |
Re: HID lights problem.. here are the brightness of each bulb type. above 6000k has never been measured so im making a guess. if you want to be brighter than halogen, stick with max of 6000k. but 4300k will be the brightest light. 4300k=3400 lumen 6000k=2400 lumen 8000k=1800 lumen or less?? 10000k=1000 lumen or less?? halogen H1 bulb=1800 lumen |
Re: HID lights problem.. Stick with 4300k. 8000k isn't going to do any better then a halogen bulb , and i'm not a fan of 6000kelvins either. |
Re: HID lights problem.. Well the thing is I wasn't really shooting for what's the brightest because I don't want to blind people in front of me or the people that drive on the other side of the road. Yeh well I'm not that big of a fan on white either haha. But since majority rules, 4300K it is. Thanks guys =] |
Re: HID lights problem.. well 6000k is a good compromise. it will be mostly white with some blue tints and still be fairly bright. |

Re: HID lights problem.. Yeh I know it's my car and I can do what I want but I came here to get some advice on what's good, not just do what I think is//looks good then later on regret not finding out what's best. Yeh well I've just seen a couple out in the road that were bright as **** white and I wasn't sure if that would have been the 4300K ones, just assumed. My bad. Well thanks guys, I'll be sure to get the 6000K ones because I want them and am sure they'll look nice. :) |
