Wiring an extra 12v Power Port 2005 Civic EX

Hi All,

I am new to 7thgencivic and am really impressed with the amout of info here.

Anyway,

I am trying to put another power socket (like the stock one above the cup holders) for my XM Roady2 and am having problems. In my '02 civic I could just pop off the cover for the old power port to access the power port adapter. The '05 civic isn't so simple. In order to access this wire I have to take a lot of the center console (around the shifter) out. At least that is my understanding.

If anyone has any ideas for this I would appreciate it! I don't want to take apart the center console. Is it possible for me to wire into the fuse box?

Thanks in advance!

anything is possible. but running power through the grommet isnt easy either

takign the centre out is quite simple i do it regularly. and its a good thing to learn. willt ake u 30 minutes the first time :)

that would be pretty easy on an 05 vic....you dont have to take out the entire console, all you gotta do is pop the shifter bezel out, then theres 2 screws up by the cupholders, take those out, and pop that top portion of the console out, then the thing where the 12v adapter is comes out. its hard to explain without pics.

Get one the 1 to 2 adaptors. Just plug it in.

id like to do the same thing and hide the plug so no one can see my inverter plugged in. i like it clean!
can i just tap in to the regular phone plug and use that as my power source or naw? if someone could let me know id appreciate it!

EDIT: I believe step 5 should help you in what you're looking to do. from what i know, 2005s are the same as 2003s which is what i have. if 05 and 03s are the same, feel free to pm me with questions/add me to msn and ill gladly help you there!
