Can you install an after-market cd player into a 2001 civic ex?

My Civic has a factory cd player in it but I wanted to get my Sony Xplode cd player installed into it. A friend of mine installed the Xplode into it, but when he did NOTHING else worked on the car; Even the remote keyless entry, the dome light... nothing. So, he called Circuit City and they said you couldn't install an after-market cd player into a 2001 honda civic because all everything works off of the factory cd player. this just didn't sound right to me, and i don't know a lot about all of this so i was just wondering if anybody knows if this is true or not? and what should I do? THANKS SO MUCH!

you can definietly get it installed because circuit city is the ones who put mine in, so dont let them tell you anything cause they dont know jack. You prolly just messed up on connections somewhere.

Of course you ca, i put in mine by myself. Maybe when he was installing it he blew a couple fuses?? I accicentally did that to the constant power like to the HU. Once i got that fixed, it all worked great.

i remember someone told me that, but it's only the older civic models, the new 7th gen doesn't have that problem. i have an ex and i changed a rockford after market mp3 into the car, runs fine, it's just like every other cd player installation

The 98's weren't affected by aftermarket decks. It was the 96-97's.

Circuit Shi!!y doesn't know what they are talking about half the time, always get a second or third opinion, usually if an opinion it doesn't sound right, IT ISN'T (by the way opinions are like a$$holes.....everyone has one)

Did you connect the wires directly to the ones in your dash, or did you buy the plug to wire to the aftermarket hu?
