Rally Suspenion

Hi, does anyone here do any form of rally with their civic? Preferably 8thgen. I'm curious about who's the best to go to for suspenion parts.

try thmotorsports?

I have an 2002, never used them, so no idea. They are for asphalt use, though, but could get back to stock ride height

I autocross.

It doesn't really mater who you buy the parts from or if you make them yourself, it only matters if they work.

If you buy cheap coil overs you'll probably end up sacrificing dampening adjustment (which sets who stiff the struts are). I did this because I don't really care.

I'm running Raceland coil overs. They run $500 for a set.
Or you could go with Skunk2, Tein, Spoon and many more but those will be $2000+.

Here's my set up

-front sway bar deleted (you can only do this with rear camber adjustment or you'll over steer into a ditch, consider your self warned).

-rear sway bar 24mm from Progress (any brand 22mm to 26mm is fine, or OEM from an si or rsx)

-swaybar end links from Jegs

-dc racing strut bar (it is important to find a solid bar not a bolted together three piece bar, but if you get a cheap three piece form ebay, set it to your car, spot weld it, then weld it tight)

-dc racing camber kit

-2 inch custom spacers

-Raceland coilovers

-Energy Suspension bushings

...

Also get a good set of semi track or full track tires.

Re: Rally Suspenion

I'm not sure how the frame is built around the 8th gen civics in regards to the rear srtuts, but for the 7th gen buying a rear strut bar is pointless IMO. Double check with an SCCA racer who runs one.

My car at 6minutes and 6:20... the clip isnt the greatest but you can see that there is almost no body roll.

Re: Rally Suspenion

Cam,

The majority of coilovers will not get to stock ride height, but for rally, you want as much travel as you can, so I would not recommend that. Coilovers have the shock body designed short for lowering craze...

Also, the spring for road application are designed for asphalt, so usually too stiff for rally lower grip applications.

What matters to rally is compliance. Not a narrow window of operation.
