What are the chances of tire blow out?
 

I took a road trip this weekend with 4 people in my car and i was nervous about what my tire presure should be? and is it possible that my regular pressure for the streets(36psi) is enough for highway use? and is it more of a possiblitie for tire blow out cuz i have low profile tires? If any one can help me out. PLease let me know what you think

normal psi is between 31-37

The tire says what psi you should be at. Then you can adjust accordingly. I run 40 series rubber and I lost a tire the other day just to let you know.

I keep my tires at 36-37psi .....

there's always a chance of a blowout with firestone tires..

i would just keep it at what the tire says and you should have nothing to worry about, unless you hit something in the middle of the road

hope mine don't blow out on me....that really gonna suck

I hit a pot hole and blew 2 rims+ tires out, i would keep them at about 32-35 just my opinion tho

Call up your tire manufacturer and they will be able to recommend the best pressure for your tire. The stock tire pressure usually needs to be increased if you're running low pro tires, simply because of the fact that you have less tire volume supporting the same amount of weight. When I was using 205/40/17 tires, I had to inflate up to 44 psi according to Yokohama. When I switched to 215/50/16 tires and smaller lightweight rims, BFGoodrich said I only needed 31 or 32 psi because my total tire volume was actually greater than stock.

Just call up the tire manufacturer to make absolutely certain.

If you have 4 people and luggage that's pretty close to the maximum load for the car. So look on the sidewall of the tire and see what the max pressure is. Then put your tire pressures at that or maybe 2 PSI less. Tire load ratings are at max rated PSI. When you are driving without all those people, take your pressures back to whatever is normal for you.

Tires under high loads and lower pressures build heat from flexing. Heat is what destroys tires. But if you have decent rubber and keep your PSI correct for the load, there shouldn't be any problems. You can't always avoid hitting a big hole, but chances are you won't Also running too high speeds with high load is going to build excess heat also.

DO NOT run your tires near their max rating. I had a blowout 9 months ago and totalled my car, the Insurance company is still in litigation with Falken Tire (go figure), call the place you got your tires from, they will tell you a recommended pressure, or any tire distributor will be able to help you out. If you run max load, then you need to run the max PSI. The load rating on that tire is at that max PSI.

Big difference between that and day to day driving with minimum load.

i set mine at 32 psi
i drove with 4 people ur not gonna blow out ur tires unless u drive all crazy
