K&N Oil Filters
 

I am wondering if anyone tried to use the K&N Oil Filter labeled HP1004 (which is designed for most honda cars except ours) on their 7th gen civic? I have been looking for the K&N oil filter speically made for our cars, but I can never find it.

I know, but its like $16 shipped.
Usually they cost around 10 bucks at local auto stores. Know any local auto stores that sell those for our car?

Unfortunately, online is the only way to get these fir now...they've only been out for like a month or so...can't even get a freakin' air filter:shake:

I ordered the same oil filter online from advance auto parts I don't know if you have one near you or not but if you do I would try them. Have them order it for you have it shipped to the store you might not have to pay shipping. Just a suggestion.

Does the K&N offer any advantages?

I bout my K&N oil filter at the local auto zone I think?:susp:

that's a good question slvr2k2, i'm runnin the Fram X2 or whatever for our cars...what are the advantages of other filters?

I'll let you guys know if this is all hype or if there are some real benefits...the little nut on the end is cool, though...it allows you to use a regular socket to remove the filter:tup:.

I doubt that the benefits of k&n oil filters are worth the money. Fram filters are made of paper, thus are not efficient. Can't go wrong with Honda filters. They're 1/2 the price of K&N and performs fine.

Yep, if you buy several Honda filters and drain plug gaskets at one time, spreads out the shipping costs. If you ever have problems, the dealer can't say you had the wrong oil filter.

How could you not trust honda's filters. Their whole reputation is built on reliability and quality. You think they would put a cheap filter on their little engines that they spend years honing to perfection. Come on now, think about it...

Personally, I do not distrust Honda's filters--or any of their parts, for that matter. It's just that I have owned many cars and driven even more to know from experience that nothing is perfect and can be improved upon. If even BMWs, Porsches and Ferraris can be improved upon, then Hondas--and any other car--can be too.

That's a very valid point. However, your engine is going to last for several 100k to begin with. Even if the K&N did do a better job I doubt it would be by that much and the car would be in the junk yard before the results would show up imo.

I just use the 1.99 one at discount auto parts... does the job.
