MY CAR HAS THE WORST RIDE

Can i get some help and feed back on what do u think are the best springs for my 01 civic, or what camber correction would help?::cry:

Worst ride as in stock? Do a search, there are tons of springs, but to start you off

go to parts section, look up springs and camber kits, decide whatever height you want

HShadow 05-21-2002 05:16 PM

Springs: Eibach, Great springs. Neuspeed, also great. Camber: Ingalls, or Eibach would be a safe way to go. Check your shocks. Might have blown. If your talking about handleing, put some strut bars if you dont have any.

Get a good set of springs, a set of Koni sport shocks, front and rear strut bars, go up two sizes in tire width, pick the size wheels you want, get lighter wheels. Install all that stuff and find the Koni setting that suits you and go.

Ok but the thing is I have v-spec coilovers and the drop is the best it's the low but not too low and i heard if i go with something other than coilovers my back will always be higher than the front.

HShadow 05-21-2002 06:02 PM

Sounds like the shocks might be the prob. Unless those coilovers, which I have never heard of, might be giving you the prob. I was told to go with ground control if I was getting an adjustible spring.

You needed to say that up front, dude. Screw this.

In general, that's usually true. A set of springs will usually lower more in the front than the back. Are you using your factory shocks? If so, that's probably why your ride quality is so poor. I suggest upgrading to some Koni yellow shocks (I'm using Koni's with Ground Control coilovers, btw).

VNlilMAN 05-21-2002 07:09 PM

its probably because 1 it's v-spec and 2 their coilovers... and NO NOT ALL SPRINGS WILL HAVE THE BACK HIGHER THEN THE FRONT. i have neuspeed sports(for 2 door) and its a 2 finger gap all around. but ya if you want a more comfortable ride you should get some new shocks. i personally think konis+coilovers are a waste because you could get true coilovers for just a lil more. i havn't been inside a car with true coilovers but i'm guessing the ride is as good as stock or even better

DAMMMM thats what I need thats really helpful thanks. Ya I am on stock shocks, how much do those run around??

luv2playu 05-21-2002 07:27 PM

What type of schocks are there and which do you suggest??

VNlilMAN 05-21-2002 07:42 PM

only shocks available right now are the konis, i think they go for 550. they are only inserts tho meaning you have to cut/modify your stock shocks in order to put them on your car. i've heard installation on those were 200. tokico's are supposed to come out soon, not sure when tho. these wont be inserts but will be full struts n will probably be around 500(tokicos are usually cheaper but since they are full struts and not shocks they are still pretty expensive). but ya like i said i dont think its worth it to get konis cause true coilovers are what 1000? i've even seen some for 800. n thats basically the same price as konis+coilovers. right now i'm riding on neuspeed sports with stock shocks, ride isn't too badd, its almost like stock. when the shocks blow(it probably wont be for awhile tho) i'll probably go with true coilovers.

Ur my kindda Man! I appreciate the info on my car it really give me a heads up thanks guys

deathor 05-21-2002 08:12 PM

Oh yeah, and are you saying it has the worst ride, because in the back of your mind, you're comparing it to stock? Just a reminder (u probably already know this or u might not), you sacrifice ride quality anytime you lower your car. I used to have this debate.. quality or performance? But now, I'm debating other stuff.. hehe..

i will save your life....
here's the deal, the main problem you have are those v-spec coilovers.
get rid of them suckas....
i had those same coilovers on my 2k1civic, and it caused me many problems......
i had them taken out.......
i was told that they would settle down and give me a better ride, but it never happened.....
i spent a lot of extra money to take them off and replace them.....
those damn things didn't even lower my car as much as i wanted...
you can email me if you want to know more details about the things i went through with
those coilovers....
i eventually purchased a set of neuspeed racing springs and i am very happy with
them....

HShadow 05-22-2002 11:59 AM

Those true coilovers that were $800 were the NEX coils. I have head good things, and bad about those. Good the ride, was great, Bad, something about oversteer. 2cute who is a member here was talling me about that problem. Your best bet if your going to go with the true coilover is wait for the Tien coils comming late in the year. Other then that I would consider changing those coils and start looking into maybe ground control or H&R.
