Longest Lasting Tires
 

I have already tried the search so dont flame me. I just wanted to know how long most of these aftermarket tires will last? I dont feel like buying new tires every 10,000 miles.

1) What tire brands/types will last as close to our stock tires?
2) How will they perform in wet dry and snow?

arnt the stock tires that come with the civic the best, longest lasting ones on the market today?

hahah our stock tires suck a55....i estimate 2 more weekends of auto-x'n and my front tires are gonna need to be replaced...

Can't say about the Civic, but my parents had Michelins on the VW Passat that lasted for I think 5 or 6 years. Anyway it was around 50000 miles is how long I think they lasted.

Goodyear and Michilen I know both make 100,000 mile tires. Not too expensive considering they last twice as long!! Check discounttire.com

Keep in mind that longer lasting tires = harder tread compound. Harder tread compound = less grip and not-so-good handling. That's why drag slicks are the stickiest tires you can find because they have an ultra soft tread compound. But they don't last that long and are unsuitable for daily driving.

You can't have your cake and eat it too, unfortunately. The key is to find tires that have an acceptable balance between treadwear and handling.

Toyo has a tire with a 100k MILE tread wear warranty..but they're crap in snow.. Tire I Previously had the best luck with was was Goodyear Eage GT II's.. Lasted 50kmiles of beating and still had life in them.. although on ICE they really really suck

i heard nitto made very hard rubbers so i guess those will be long lasting

The question is relative:....Meaning

1. Is the car lowered or is the camber out of tolerances??

2. How often do you plan on rotating??

3. How do you drive??

4. Do you check air pressure frequently??

1) No but it will be.. so yes
2) Whenever necessary
3) Its a daily driver. I dont do burnouts all the time. I am fairly gentle
4) Yes, about everytime i wash it (every 2 weeks)

Thanks for the help guys. I have heard other places that bridgestone makes great tires for ride quality, milage and element conditions. I will proly go with those. Thanks again

The best tire....ignoring the apperance...IMHO is Michelins...although my Kumho's are doing great. I've put 25,000 miles on them, rotate them every 3000 miles and the thread wear is barely noticable...I see them going at least 50,0000!!!!...anyway....since your 1-4 questions got answered it is now a matter of $$$ and the look your prefer..Peace![IMG]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/IMG]

If you dont want to be dishing out mega cash for tires every 2-3 seasons or so, go with an H-rated tire, not a W oy Y rated tire. Our cars aren't gonna break 130 mp/h anyhow. With the H-rated tires, i've done a lot of reserach and the bridgestone potenzas seem to be the best out there. If you still want something a little cheaper, go with yokohama avid H4's
