OEM style Carbon Fiber Hood

OK, I searched the mess out of this but still would like to get opinions on who makes the best quality cf hood, OEM style. I'm talking good quality thru out...underside looks good, latch looks good and works properly, fits like it should, etc. There are a bunch of them out now.

Never thought I would want a cf hood but they definitely look sweet on a silver coupe.

If your gonna get a CF Hood, why would you get one that looks like the OEM one. Humm. Interesting.

SQCivic 04-06-2002 06:53 PM

Hummm....most of the ones out are OEM style dude, where you been hiding? Interesting.

Looks clean. At first I thought that the Kaminari was kinda nice, but now I think it may be overkill. Well, maybe if you had a spoiler with it that was as aggresive... Anyway, other hoods with the recesses and inverse scoops and what not don't look as good. It they had a hood out with the kind of openings that a Mitsubishi Lancer hood has then that would be k3wl.

Anyway, I don't know what the best is, but stay away from VIS Racing! From what rhyno posted about that hood it's way worse than mine and I think mine is probably not the best.

mine isn't vis racing. i heard that vis racing is a pretty good bet. nopis ae supposed to be ok to. i'll tell you what though. overkill or not, from the hoods i've seen, i don't think i could get another one after getting the kamianri. the quality is unbelievable.

SQCivic 04-06-2002 11:01 PM

They just make the one style with the scoop, right?

timcivic 04-07-2002 12:09 AM

do u know how much the oem spoiler is??

First of all don't double post. People can't answer your question in 4 minutes.
You can get the OEM spoiler from Handaacessories for $300 painted and ready to be installed.

Moderator: Removed the double post.

User: Hey rhyno! Which hood was it then? Which company? I thought that the first one you had was from Vis Racing?

The only True and Real CF scoop hood OEM fit is Kaminari:tup:, which cost $700-$900. Beware buyers, most CF hood sales for $350-$450 are non-true and real CF construction. Most CF hood says are CF hood, made inner frame with fiberglass and cover a thin layer of CF outside for CF looks, and that is the TRUTH. So, when you plan to get CF hood, do a lots of search before buy one and don't be fool with the cheap price. In my opinion, I rather save up my money to get the real CF scoop hood from Kaminar. Yes, it is freaking expensive, but it is worthy because it looks good, light, OEM fit (No mods, or pin lock) and most important is the REAL THANG.

Grey 04-07-2002 06:06 PM

Um... Just remember that the F in CF stands for fiber, as in fiberglass. You're talking about all carbon weave hoods bonded together with that transparent gel stuff. Those are the most expensive and I guess you could say that they're the real thing.

SQCivic 04-08-2002 06:08 AM

I'm wanting the Kaminari quality but not with the scoop. Looks like Spoon or DG Motorsports are the better quality hoods.

Grey 04-08-2002 09:02 AM

I checked out that DG Motorsports CF hood. Wow, a written warrenty. Now that's reassuring! I hope someone gets it so that I can see the difference betwean that and my Fiber Images CF hood.
