Taillight treatment! anyone ...... . anyone

Well i was lookin through some pics on my pc and i found one of a black civic i think its from this site but not sure.... well this guys tails where ither painted or had a cover on them to eliminate the tail light EXCEPT for the areas that the lights are at almost like a mask! pretty nice ive seen plastic covers for headlights on alot of models but this was sick lookin.... so anyways my question is, is there a product thats on the market for this, if so wheres it at, take me to it... if not, what would you guys think is the road to take.... i can always set a template and have vinal cut thats body color to mask it and that wouldnt look bad at all cept the edges would still be red.... the other option is to just have it painted with acualy honda satanic silver...... what would you do..... or if you know what im talkin about and you have done this send me a link id like to see it..... word

- hey man, that's the one and only: pimpdakota.
- its a diy, i believe, i remember asking about it a couple of months ago. very unique and original
- search for this thread started by me like 6 months ago. i think he used nightshade paint.

I like the way pimpdakota did those, too, but I wouldn't be able to do it the same way where I live. The cops will nail you to a cross around here if you paint or cover up the backup lights the way pimp did his. Must have liberal laws up in Redmond

i want to do that to mine too. at first i wanted cf altezzas, but didnt like the whole altezza thing, but then i saw pimpdakotas ride, and i knew what i really wanted. only problem is i dont know how to do it, but i think i have to split open the tails and paint them inside. just not sure how to split them open.. maybe its just like the stock headlights? one of these days ill get an extra set of stock tails from someone and give it a try. also i dont want to feel like im copying pimpdakotas ride since hes the only one thats done it.

the best way is to simply open the light up and paint all the chrome body color... looks good.. been doing this same trick since the Altezzas came out a few years ago.. Just did g/f's silver '01 a few months ago. looks much better than the chrome ~... have even done my buddy's IS400... the REAL taillights... bright yellow paint, looked really nice w/ no chrome and just a red circle lens.

1 CAN OF TRASPARENT BLACK PAINT CALLED "SHADES"
1 ROLL OF FINE LINE MASKING TAPE
1 SCOTCH BRITE PADE "GREY" FINE GRADE
1 ROLL OF REGULAR MASKING TAPE
1 HOUR OF PATIENCE
REMOVE TAILAMPS FROM CAR! cLEAN WITH WAX AND GREASE REMOVER OR SOME SORT OF WAX AND GREASE CUTTING AGENT LIKE PAINT PREP 3M! lOOK CLOSELY AT TAILAMPS AND YOU WILL SEE A PATTERN LINE EMOSSED IN YOUR TAILAMP! FOLLOW LINE WITH FINE LINE AND MASK UP REMAINDER OF NON PAINTABLE SURFACE WITH MASKING TAPE! SCUFF LIGHTLY WITH SCOTCH BRITE PAD! tHEN USE A AIR BLOWER OR CLEAN CLOTH TO REMOVE DUST! THEN PAINT UNTIL DESIRED COVERAGE IS REACHED! THE LESS YOU USE THE MORE TRANSPARENT THE MORE USED THE DARKER AND BLACKER IT LOOKS! dAKOTA
