full dash trim kit $142? anyone buy the kit from this site? http://alkaplus.com/cgi-bin/catalog....&ProductID=128 hows the quality? price seems good. |
|
personally id paint it for what, $5...thats what I did and still looks great |
I got mine for 100 and change off of ebay... i was going to paint mine like neomagus, but i got alittle worried about it possibly decreasing the value of it when i go to sell the civic... (if I sell the civic, lol)... so i figured these kits, i can atleast take off... |
WHOA whats that over the cup holders and where can i get one and where?!?! that dash trim looks good, dose it come with a new peices or jsut covers. Holy crap i want that thing that cover sup cupholders tres chic. someone please tell me where to get one. |
standard with 02 civics i believe:tup: |
it's the standard cup holder over for the 02 |
Yeah, I like that kit too. I really like it because the whole part that goes around the radio is silver. Unlike the 2001 OEM dash kit. |
that pic looks nice, i want the silver triming. How easy is that to install? |
I saw that kit on a civic at the toronto autoshow. It looks even better in person. My jaw dropped when i saw it. |
i put a similar kit in my car... i got the wood trim kit, not the aluminum.. its easy to install, you just have to be patient and careful. they are basically stickers and if you rush and put it on crooked, you're screwed. just take your time and you'll be fine. |
to me, $142 for stickers seems really high. are you sure those are stickers and not the actual plastic pieces? |
Actually, they are kind of thin plastic stickers...so I guess you are both right |
Oh...and another thing... Even though that kit is labled Civic 2001 and up, it's NOT for the 2k2 civic. The kit for our cars has a few different pieces for the cup holder cover and whatnot...anyway, they have the kit for us on there, too, listed under "Civic 2002-up" Linkified for the motivationally impaired |
$142 for stickers is too much. I would rather just paint them. |
yup, they're only stickers. i'm not sure if they have real metal in them but the style is "brushed aluminum". the reason i don't want to paint mine is because i want it to reflect a little, like aluminum pedals. |
I got the OEM carbon fiber kit. It's not just stickers. It is rigid molded plastic that is made to a perfect fit with 3M sticky on the back. When you put them on, they look like they came on the car. Perfect. The kit linked at the top of the thread here requires a two part bonding agent. No sticky tape. Could be messy, requires skill and patience I believe. That's probably part of the reson for the low price. The company doesn't have to apply the double tape. Let's you do all the work. Not a bad deal though. |
I have purchased this kit from ALKAPLUS.com before. Actually it was for my previous ride. #1 - When you trade in your car, painting the dash aint gonna deface the value of your car by THAT much. And if it does...then go to a junkyard. #2 - That is NOT i repeat NOT a REAL aluminum dask kit. It is a fake aluminum kit, with an EPOXY coating over the top. #3 - Under heat...that epoxy coating WILL crack. Doesn't matter whether or not you have tints. I had tints, and mine cracked. The parts that USUALLY crack are the center console (where your radio is) and the part around the gauge cluster. #4 - Just get off your lazy but and paint your sh*t. It looks much nicer. Either that or buy a REAL BRUSHED ALUMINUM DASH KIT. Just my $0.02 |
then where is a good place to buy the dash kit? |

Buy the OEM kit from one of the Honda Specific dealers on the links page. |
SpdRcrChk, finally someone responded with experience. thanks for the input.... i'll pass on this kit. |
Go to a website called Legend5 I believe, They sell real Carbon Fiber and real Brushed aluminum kits that fit and look awesome You get what you pay for |
i want the full carbon fiber kit. |
Check out this company. They have real carbon fiber kits. I got a kit from them and it's good stuff. AUTODASH EMPORIUM Good service, quick shipment too. |
hey so that cover for the cup holder comes standard on the 2002 somebody should tell me where i can buy those thy look good and if i cut 2 hoels in them i can put guages like my air fuek and a pressure guage of some sort that would loo wicked maybe i might htik about making my own if i can but it please tell me wher to get it thanks alot |
If you put gauges down there you'll run off the road while looking down at your gauges. That happened with some cars years ago that had their tach and stuff down on the console as original equipment. |
i think $142 is a little bit to much for a dash kit..i got mines for a 100, make sure they're the thin ones NOT the thick molded ones. but i really wanted was a custome kit made of real fiberglass so its shinny not the dashkits u stick on. i heard u can go to a hobby shop and by buy glossy coating paint that they use on model cars.. not sure tho. |
How many pieces in the $100 kit? Actually if you look at the OEM Honda kits, they are thick and rigid, but they fit so well that they look like they were made right on the car. |
