AEM Dyno Day Results - Intake Systems. Here is an article that may interest prospective cold air & SRI intake buyers. While it isn't specific to the 01/ 02 Civics, it does give some interesting information on AEM and how they develop products, etc. Dyno Day Article Enjoy, Xjet |
man.. can't believe a cold air different would be that different... |
- its official, i'm getting a CAI |
So basically, the RSX Type S gaines from the CAI much more than the SRI, but on the RSX base model gained more from the SRI over the CAI, but only by about 1 HP....that's interesting !! And why didn't they test the Injen CAI, that got me thinking as well. They would have had it to show everyone that the AEM provided better gains. But they wouldn't have had it, if it would have showed all those people that the Injen CAI provider better gains than the AEM CAI. Does that make sense or no ? |
Antidote11 - My guess is that the Injen CAI was a more involved install, maybe requiring a bumper removal (just a hunch). It could be that they tried to make it simple. I doubt that most of these spectators wanted to wait around for them to disassemble the front of the RSX. Who knows? Xjet |

keep in mind that these results may be biased since this is the AEM site. my cousin read that the injen intake outperfomed the AEM. as soon as i find that article, i'll post the link. BTW, this is for a RSX Type S, a totally different car from ours, so you really can't apply those results to our cars. our cars get 5HP to the wheels with intake, HEADER, AND EXHAUST. there is no way a CAI will give us that much power alone |
Yes, there is a Injen intake on there, but I think it is the SRI, not the CAI. And if i was a spectator there, I would wait and have a beer while they took a bumper off and installed one to see what the gains were. They probably didn't have the Injen CAI there because it may have provided better gains over the AEM CAI, and that they had encountered that in earlier development and realized that the Injen intake, since the filter is truely out of the engine bay, that it provided better gains. AEM realized this and they got scared and started crying..... |
consider the source of this information before you believe it:shake: you better believe they wont be comparing any products that will beat theirs |
Just buy the one you like or is easier to install. About all any of those iintakes do is make noise. That's what people like. |
Just buy the cold air intake |
CAI Rules |
AEM CAI all tha way!!! |
After i put my Aem cai i could tell a big differance over stock |
with so little whp gain why even bother buy performence partz? they aint cheap at all  *dreamz of having a fast civic crushed* ... also due to have nitrous would void warrenty |

That is 5hp with dc products. Check out import tuning on the net and the article about the 01 civic. Hayame intake and dc catback made 6hp w/o header. |

LOL... if you think it makes a big difference when you get an intake... omg... okay.. here we go.... 1.) the car they used was an RSX type S... with a typical CAI, it'll produce 12 HP to the wheels stock... our cars will make like nothing... every dyno will be different with everycar... 2.) when you first put the intake on you're gonna gain hp for like a week... then your ecu likes to play games and change the A/F ratio to compensate for the new mass airflow thats coming through the throttle body... so when that starts to happen.. you LOSE HP for about a 300 - 800 miles.... then your ecu starts to get smart and finds the A/F settings and you start producing positive HP again..... 3.) intake headers exhaust doesn't make you shave seconds off your car..... especially with our cars... 4.) trust your sources....unless you actually saw them dyno it in front of you... don't trust the BS info they give you in magazines and websites... - dan |
ho! dan's a smart one. this doesn't apply to our car at all, if all the info there is valid. now I know there are actual consumers present, but *shrug*... I read this long ago too... also, InJen doesn't have two diff. intake for the RSX, they only got one. check out how the low end torque went out of the window. lol. thats a good dose of hp increase, but its a whole diff. engine... the hp increased in our car with a cai is barely anything. and please people, stop giving out numbers from import tuner or etc. I've learn that those things are pretty much bs. |
yoda kicks arse... especially in the new star wars... LOL |
