Budget GPS/NAV unit?

What do you use and how much did you pay?
I'm looking to get a NAVI in my car somehow, be it something like the pioneer avic-d1 or a handheld PDA.

I need exact product(s) to buy.
Thanks.

would getting something like Earthmate GPS Reciever with Street Atlas or Microsoft Streets and Trip 2006 with GPS locator/reciever plugging into the USB port on a laptop/carputer be the best economical solution compared to say...a Dell Axim x51 with bluetooth GPS?

get a carputer, some people have some really nice setups, and they didn't pay as much as a D1 or N1/2.

research it, mp3car.com

but yeah. i think a pda might be the cheapest thing to do, if you already have a PDA. or if you already have a laptop, you can get an earthmate (which is what i have, works good.) the software that came with it, street atlas, isn't good. i use "iguidance 2.1"

i have carputer w/earthmate usb.

For a good cheap unit, I had found a Delphi unit on ebay for pretty cheap. Cant seem to find the link but just do a search for Delphi GPS or NAV and it should come up. If you go with a Pioneer or something of that sort, you are looking to spend some cash for sure

you could buy a dell handheld and the gps add on.

Dell x50v with 1 gig CF Flash, loaded with all CA Maps
BT-388 Bluetooth GPS Unit (One of the best gps unit far as I could tell from crap loads of reviews on gps forums)
iGuidance V.2.1.2 .(Software)

I almost bought carcomputer setup, but it's not removal.
And I park outside... I rather take off PDA and put it back in whenever i use it.
