ATTN: People with projectors

PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU CLICK THAT REPLY BUTTON!!!! this is my second attempt at this topic, and last time almost everyone posted things that were completely irrevelant to the topic:shake:

I want to get black projectors, but i have heard that some people are having problems with the hiper industries ones and had to modify them so they would work right. anyone with the APC brand projectors have any problems with them, or is it a case of you get what you pay for with the hiper industries projectors? How well do the lights work with the bulbs that they come with/call for (not hyperwhites, etc), is there any problem with the projectors fitting or bulbs fitting in them? make sure you list what brand youre using if you do have any problems

DO NOT post a link to someone in members rides with a pic of black projectors. i know what they look like and that is not what im asking

click here to see the previous post where people didnt read before posting

things to post:
1) brand of projectors
2) how well the light up the road
3) any installation problems

StLVtec 02-03-2002 11:27 AM

Im not sure about the question but i want some black projectors to so i would like to know the replys to. And also like where is the cheapest place to buy them.

pmau 02-03-2002 02:02 PM

I use to own a pair of projectors, but not the same ones at the picture in the previous post. The ones in the previous post are supposedly made by tyc, but I'm not sure. The one's I owned looked like this projectors

Now to answer your questions. The pair I had fit like OEM. Yes OEM. It's not like other projectors where you have to modify to get it fit perfectly. If you get the projectors I got, you have align the beam because it's misaligned to begin with. It isn't too hard to do. If you don't correct the beam pattern, one will aim down and the other will aim up. As for the brightness, if you have the beam pattern aligned right, it does light up the road better than your stock housing. If you decided to put any type of xenon bulbs in, it will burn out faster because the projector lights draw more power. You can actually feel the projector headlamps warm up. Hope this helps.

riceburnrex 02-03-2002 05:15 PM

Do you mean that the bulbs will burn out faster or that something will happen to the projector housings faster because of the bulbs?

pmau 02-03-2002 07:06 PM

Yes the bulbs will burn out faster. Xenon type bulbs tend to draw more wattage and adding the projector drawing more wattage = a faster burn out.

RSXtypeIvtec 02-03-2002 07:52 PM

for you all interested in those projectors, i have some for sale in marketplace...check it out!!!

Diznavis 02-03-2002 09:36 PM

pmau, do you know what compay made the projectors you have on your car?

pmau 02-03-2002 10:08 PM

I don't have any idea's who makes it. But if I had to take a shot at who makes it, I would say Matrix, but don't hold me to it.

Diznavis 02-03-2002 10:14 PM

props to pmau for answering the questions asked

there must be more people out there with experiences with projectors

vietnam 02-03-2002 10:28 PM

my suck, i brought them at r speed the small parking light doesn't fit, because the housing is bigger, and my projector i can't see a danm thing on the road when i turn my on agaisnt the wall there is a line on the beam like------/\---- -----/\-------- i look at my parents car and i t didn't have any line on the wall they just faded or something, and my beam ajust broke so i had to get a fog ligt to light my way

Diznavis 02-03-2002 10:34 PM

vietnam, do you know what brand they are? your problems sound like the ones i read about the hiper industries projectors

bottlefed 02-05-2002 12:18 AM

i have the matrix ones and they light up the road too good. people flash me cause they think i have my high beams on. the only probs that i have with them are that the parking light and the blinker bulbs didn't fit. the whols were a little too big. but i have the easiest way to fix that prob. i put some finger caulk around the part that goesinto the whole. finger caulk is just a round roll of stuff that looks like clay but it is like a string wraped around into a roll. just peel like 5 inches off of it and wrap it around the area that the bulb is suposed to go into the slots and just push on it and it will stick. i did this like a month ago and it's great. one more prob. i put super white bulbs in and they blew out next day and the other blew a week later so i put the original one back in and they work fine but i want the super whites. Does anyone know what i could do?

Diznavis 02-05-2002 06:10 AM

good info bottlefed. maybe the reason people are flashing you is because the light is angled a little bit too high

bottlefed 02-05-2002 09:03 AM

u can't change the angle though

Diznavis 02-05-2002 09:38 AM

<< one more prob. i put super white bulbs in and they blew out next day and the other blew a week later so i put the original one back in and they work fine but i want the super whites. Does anyone know what i could do? >>

did you touch the bulbs? oil on your hands makes the bulbs explode if you touch them

pmau 02-05-2002 10:18 AM

You can change the 'angle' of the beam. It's located behind the projectors. There should be 3 or 4 screws. You just have to turn them either to the right or left depending on how your lights are aimed. There are 2 screws for the low beam and either 1 or 2 for the high beam. For the low beam, one is to adjust the beam left and right and the other screw is for up and down. The best way to aim your lights evenly, is to put on your stock lights, then at night aim your lights against the wall and mark it. Then put on your projectors and try to match up the same 'angle'. As for your bulb problem, there isn't a way to fix the problem even if you haven't touched the bulbs. Don't try to put higher wattage bulbs in either because it can/will melt the housing. If you want superwhites on your projectors, just be willing to pay for the replacement. But I hear the Piaa bulbs draw less wattage and put out a great output. So you may want to try those if you have money to burn.

Hey diz, those projectors that you asked pmau about earlier. They look like the ones on NOPI.com that I saw. Those were made by CK Motorsports, also known as FOCUZ. I don't know if that is them, but it looks like 'em.

bottlefed 02-05-2002 09:27 PM

didn't know i could change the angle but i would have to take off the bumper again to change the angle but u would have to put them on, take them off, put them on take them off, blah blah, blah to line them up. does anyone have the matrix projectors and have hyper whites and doesn't have any problems?

slikchik 02-11-2002 08:07 PM

I'm still learning about cars, but it seems like projectors are a little bit of trouble. i really want some but if they are trouble I might just get clears. Do u guys know where I could look for some clears. Thanx:)

NightHawk 02-12-2002 03:40 PM

i have black projects, from japa...TYC. No problems, but im still figuring out how to raise the projector, cuz the left one is too low, doesnt look as purple. But, i had no electrical problems! recommend them!

Diznavis 02-19-2002 09:55 AM

looking for brand and your experiences with them

Mokushi 02-19-2002 12:41 PM

Bottlefed has the MSD DIS system. It is made for cars that don't have distributors, like ours. I think retail is right around $375...
