tachometer i'm thinking about getting an after market tach....about how much are these??? are they easy to install..because the guy at the dealer said that i would have to buy the whole cluster system but then another guy said i could just install this one without any cluster system, so if any of you have ever installed a tach on a 2k1 civic plz help me out....and about how much are they?? oh by the way does it make any difference on a LX, EX or DX...i got a DX |
Im trying to figure out the same thing :) |
It shouldn't be too difficult to install a tach... I just installed the A'pexi Rev/Speed Meter (it's basically a digital tach) And it wasn't that hard (although I'm sure the install is much different...we just had to hook everything up to the ECU and that was it) The hardest part was getting the right info from the IDIOTS at the Honda dealer in my area. And I didn't have to buy anything extra. |
Hey man I put a auto meter monster tach in my 2k1 civic it's easy to wire up you got 4 wires to hook up White 12volt dash lights Red 12volt ignition switch Black ground Green tach and then have a cople of |
4 wires, then like he said, beer |
I have an EX that comes with a tach. I want to get a DX cluster for my car. I am willing to possaby trade maybe. If you want a stock tach this is the way to go. |
on the rev speed meter is ther like a light that goes on so you know when to shift while racing |
Hooking up a tech is really easy for the Civic, actually if you have an EX. I'm not sure about the other models, but on the EX there is a small blue wire between the battery and the fender. That wire is actually a tach test wire. You can hook up the new tach right up to that and it will work like a champ. Like 01BlackEm2 said, green wire hooks up to that blue one, and the remaining wires are just for power. |
