Question: People with Eibach Pro-kits

Okay my question is about the comfort level of driving with these springs.

Say you see a pretty big speed bump or steep dip...there are 5 cars trailing closely behind you at about 30-50mph...if you saw these obstacles would you have to go ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way to the right side a bit when you hit the bump/dip then go left so that you've succeeded scratching your car while you have the other cars behind you honking the heck outta you like "wtf you doing??!" OR(which i hope for) can you just go straight and slow down a wee bit once you approach the bump/dip (like a stock car) just so that your car won't scratch and knock out ur front bumper (pretty much like a stock)? Cuz if the first choice does happen, it must suck to go to crowded parking lots with honk-happy people trailing you...

PS. planning to get 17s so any thoughts included with this question would be nice ^_^

mine road just like a stock car but now i blew my struts so i just bounce all the time

antidote11 12-30-2001 11:26 AM

The Pro-Kit springs blew your struts...really ? That sucks...I was going to get some installed here soon, but I guess
I'll wait till I get some Konis on there then lower that bad boy !!

the prokit blew my struts, too... But in response to the original question, NO, it does not lower your car so much that you cannot just ride over speed bumps like normal. I slow down more than I would if my car were stock, simply because my struts are shot, and i really bounce bad if i go too fast. Stock shocks in the civics blow. Can't wait to get my konis.

Right on man, that sucks !! The stock struts do suck azz.....
I look forward to getting some adjustable Konis on so
I can get rid of this understeer crap !!

But how much would you say it lowered your car ? 1 - 1.5 ? I don't want to go below
a 1.5 drop.

You fellas with Blows Struts... you should check with your Honda dealer. Here in canada Honda Canada allows up to a 1.5" suspension drop without any warranty issues. I.E they'll replace your blown struts if your cars has been lowered 1.5" or less..

Cheers

hmmm, I'll look into that. I have to closely read my warrantee. I'd say it dropped it a little over an inch. Just enough to get rid of the excess wheel gap. For the first few weeks, the car drove very nice... since then it went down hill fast.

wow very interesting, so it'd be the safest bet to get your springs installed at the dealer, lotta dealers in my area sell these springs...

lapchern 12-30-2001 04:46 PM

oh yeah, and how long did it take for your shocks or struts to blow after you got the springs installed? What are some good struts out there that can replace the stock ones? Is this thing about the warranty covered up to a 1.5 inch drop in the manual? if no one responds ill go check in a bit(it's raining!)

I wouldn't worry too much about blowing out the shocks. I've had the pro kits since July and drive in LA, recently voted as having the worse roads in the US. (Knocking on wood), my shocks are still ok.

lapchern 12-30-2001 07:46 PM

oh, so i'll prolly just need new struts...which aren't out yet

Of course you need struts & camber kit too when lowering.

DogstyleEX 12-30-2001 10:03 PM

i have the pro kit and i've ran over some pretty bad RR xings at a pretty good speed, since that was what i usually did, until i got used to slowing down.. but mine aren't blown and hopefully won't... i mean i've hit a good amount of really nasty bumps and actually a curb..
