Battery upgrade for 2012 Civic

Does anyone know if any alternate battery sizes will fit in the 2012 Civic, with no modifications? Looking for better Cold Cranking Amps.

The standard 51r size with only 450 to 500 cold cranking amps is terrible, no matter what brand that battery size is low capacity, weak and pathetic.

That may work for a lawn tractor, but not a car when it's 20 to 30 below zero.

I have seen people swap a size 24 into an Accord, will it work in a Civic?

My car starts no problem when it's negative 35 with the stock battery. If you like to throw away money you could get an optima

I'm not interested in a stock battery or optima battery. I'm interested in one with higher cold cranking amps that will fit.

Best way is to measure the space you have and measure the batteries to see if a bigger one will fit...

No they don't, not in a size 51R which is still 450cca. And for that price I can buy three cheap batteries every few years from Walmart for 1/3 of the price and still come out ahead

Well you're going to be SOL unless you modified the battery tray and tie down to fit a bigger battery, and those newer civics don't exactly have a whole lot of free space under the hood

Not sure the size i got, but my 2015 battery and starter were replaced one after the other earlier this year. Its been like way better, but my car still died one time i left it parked for a week. like my normal problem is it just cranks forever before finally starting, so i def feel everyones pain. it was super annoying when I pressed start and nothing happened at all. when it tries to start i pretty much know it will eventually. But when i pressed start and nothing happened i knew i was screwed :_doh:

I've found battery tenders online real cheap i t hink i paid five or 7 bucks from a motorcycle website...

so i've put mine on a battery tender.. I still have to figure out the fuel trim problem, hopefully i can get starting fluid to help start it the days it doesn't want to start when it's cold, but once it's started it's good for the rest of the day..

but yea the battery tender should at least keep the battery in tip top shape and even allow it to sit unused for as long as i need..

make sure the battery tender has hte quick disconnect plug so you can just have it hanging out your hood and plug it in easily when you want to.. assuming you don't live in an apt.. if you do, find a house and sell your civic lol
