92' civic brake light problem.

I just put a battery in a 92 civic .when I shut the car off the brake lights stay on. The light switch is in the off position. The car sat unused for five years. Anybody have an idea what could be wrong?

Did you find a plastic clip on drivers floor board ??

If so tack it back into the hole in the metal arm of the brake pedal lever with a dab of glue.

The car had been vacuumed so I didn't see a clip. Can I buy one at an auto store?

Auto parts, lowes, hardware store. Pretty common.
