Vent Control Problem I got a 2001 Civic LX. The vent control selector quit on me I believe because I only get air from the top vents and nothing from the feet or defrost. Being cheap I got a replacement from the junkyard(which was suppose to good) and it didn't fix anything. So did I get a bad one or is there something else causing the problem? Thanks, Idayota |
Re: Vent Control Problem First step is probably to have the HVAC system do its self test and see if any fault codes are given. Begin with the key OFF. Turn the fan knob to OFF Hold down the RECIRC and REAR DEFOG buttons Turn the ignition switch to ON (do not start the engine) Let go of the 2 buttons Recirc button and rear defog buttons light up, then Recirc button goes out in like 2 seconds, then AC light comes on.... Self test begins... then shortly (maybe 10 seconds) the self test finishes and AC light goes out. If there are codes the recirc light will now blink a code number. If OK then the recirc light stays off. Possible codes are numbered 7-15. Then decide your next move |
Re: Vent Control Problem ezone, Thanks. I got 11 blinks, so code 11, whatever that means. Where do I find out that information? Thanks, Idayota |
Re: Vent Control Problem Code 11: Problem in the mode control linkage, doors, or motor Could be stuck, jammed, broken, bad...Could be motor, linkage, doors, electrical IDK from here but there's a starting point for you. Seems like its time to get the service manual out. Service manual thread, (no guarantees)...Look at the last page for the newest links: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...e-updated.html HTH |
Re: Vent Control Problem I might find the actuator and push/pull on the linkages while working the selector back and forth, maybe if it's just stuck that would free it up. If no joy: Maybe remove it from the heater case, then see if the controller can operate it while not attached to the linkages on the case. |
Re: Vent Control Problem ezone, Thanks for the help. It ended up being that the linkage came undone some how. Idayota |
