125w RMS amp into 100w RMS speakers

Obviously the RMS rating is higher in the amp than the speakers, but the peak for the speaker is higher(300w) than the peak power the amp puts out in 2 channels(250w per channel). I'm gonna be running a Pioneer GM-520t amp into 2 Alpine SPR-69c's. I'm new to car audio and I'm just wondering if it will damage my speakers or is the difference minimal and the speakers will be able to handle the power going into them?

Don't blast it, you should be fine. :D

peak power is meaningless. if the rms power of amp is too high, just adjust the gain lower than normal so the speakers dont blow.

as long as you don't go to the point of distortion, too much power is better than too little. i'd start with the amp up about 1/3, take the HU up slow to your max listening vol and if the speakers distort anywhere along the way, then turn the gain down. if they don't, you have the option to take the gain higher. just don't distort them.

If you want to get technical about it, it's not power that's going to blow your subs, it's a square sine wave signal.

So long as your amp is able to keep a distortion free signal, you could pump a 1000W monoblock into a 250W 8" sub and have no troubles at all. (So long as the sub isn't bottoming out from excursion)

Give em hell. Better to have more power to play with and keep gains considerable and the sound clean!!!
