amp protection problem. HELP!

Lately i noticed that my amp will temporarely shut off when I turn up the volume. Then it will turn right back on. I also noticed that my protection light goes on when the amp turns off. Anyone know what is wrong or how i can fix this?

Right now i have a 1000 watt kicker amp with a 12 in L7 solobaric

Thanks

You might have the gain on the amp turned up to much. I'd say try turning it down a bit and see how that works.

Maybe need to upgrade the amp's connection to ground. Also might want to check the speaker's resistance make sure both voice coils are alright if it's a DVC.

what size wires are you running on the amp power, amp ground, and battery to chassis ground?

I would first double check your power and ground connections, as well as the ones on the battery.. then as Chris was saying, meter your voice coils.. If you have a voice coil that's lower than two or four ohms (other than perhaps a .4 ohm +/- tolerance) that's automatically forcing your amp into protection so you don't fry the amp. What makes me think this is because you posted that it only happens when you turn it up.
