sweet if this work rep. do you know if all the other things on the cluster will work

01HonderCivic 02-13-2007 01:05 PM

I'm not sure. I know if I were an auto manufacturer trying to prevent odometer fraud, I'd put in some type of setting so that if there's not power coming in from the VSS wire, then nothing on the cluster would work. I don't know if this is how it actually is, but there's only one way to find out...

just wondering isnt there a way that dealerships check you mialage and see if it matches your cluster. i was told that by someone but isnt out milage tracked on our cluster.

01HonderCivic 02-17-2007 10:51 AM

Yeah, I'm fairly certain that it's only stored in our clusters

Bad_Civc 02-17-2007 01:35 PM

ya but you can go for 3 months on a car and only put 100 miles on it ...

most dealerships only pay attention to the cluster anyways... they arent going to plug up anything and look for mileage anywhere else

civic05acer 02-17-2007 02:10 PM

ok well an update on this. i took the blue/white wire off and the odometer did stop reading the miles. the catch is the mph is not workin so yea. oh yea and + one rep 01honciv

01HonderCivic 02-17-2007 10:21 PM

Yeah....The ECU can't read MPH when the Vehicle Speed Sensor is disconnected ;)

Repped back

XSRCivic 02-17-2007 10:57 PM

:_disgust: you do know that is illegal right?

rice4lyfe 02-18-2007 03:04 PM

yes.. a sick, bald bird

...

illegal...get it? ok.... nvm

ya, why do you want to stop it anyways? just drive it and be happy with it

zen_master 02-18-2007 04:14 PM

i though that having such discussion in this forum is illegal in the first place.

_unclejuice 02-18-2007 07:35 PM

why didnt you just unplud the vss at the trans? it will catch up with you one day. mileage is recorded at every oil change place, dealership, and anywhere else they ask your mileage. carfax will tell all. it will show your car went a year or some shit with no mileage change? its people like you that make buying used cars a pain in the ass.
