Can I use 195/60 r14 winter tires on a 2007 Civic EX Sedan?

Just moved back to the states last year and neither my wife or I had a car while we lived in overseas. We're now living in upstate New York and are not used to driving in a snow.

A friend of mine has offered to give me some lightly used, quality 195/60 r14 winter tires to put on our Honda Civic EX Sedan if we can use them. I'm not opposed to buying rims if the tires are free, but I have the foggiest idea about cars, let alone winter tires (since we're both new to real winters!), and I'm looking for some guidance on whether or not those tires could be a good match for our Civic.

Could anyone provide me with some guidance?

Thanks in advance for any help!

The smallest wheels that could come on the cars (DX) were 15 inch.

Your EX should have come with 16" wheels, you can't fit 14" tires on them no matter how much you want them to fit.

You will have to buy a set of tires to fit the wheels you already have, or buy a set of steel wheels for winter and tires to go on them. Available in 15" or 16".

A set of 14" wheels probably won't clear the brakes, therefore can't fit on the car.
