custom homemade intake? good idea? i have a new 2009 civic si and my boyfriend is making a intake for it... metal piping and a cone filter.... he made 2 for his buds 2009 g37 and it looks great but i am worried he could possibly mess up my intake.... what do u think? -nats ....well my CURRENT intake IS plastic.. the one he is making me is a pipe bent at a shop then the o O clamp on both ends with a cone filter so there isnt any plastic at all really.... looks great just wanted to see what others thought THANKS |
Re: custom homemade intake? good idea? should be just fine, homemade intakes are pretty common |
Re: custom homemade intake? good idea? I think you are going to suck in a bunch of hot air and make worse power due to the computer pulling timing due to the extra heat. |
Re: custom homemade intake? good idea? oh no, another believer in plastic :) |

Re: custom homemade intake? good idea? well so long as the pipe is sealed and you have a good filter like aem dryflow, theres no problem. intakes usually dont make that much of a difference anyway. the only thing is make sure he doesnt mess with the MAF sensor because that needs to be there. it depends which part he's adding a pipe to. |

Re: custom homemade intake? good idea? that looks like a go cart or a dune buggy or something. My bf made a three inch manderel bent pipe with a spectre cotton filter. He fabricated an adapter for the MAF sensor and it didn't throw a code when i test ran it. He only has to fab a bracket to hold it in place and it's done! ill post some pictures of it for you guys to see. |
Re: custom homemade intake? good idea? cool sounds like it worked. |
