do i need to reuse my old shims on my HPS?

so i just ordered/recieved new HAWK HPS pads.....

didnt come with any kinda shims.... should i reuse me oem shims on these new pads?

it looks like they have 1 piece rubberized shim on it already.... but honda has a 2 piece for each pad...

btw what are the shims for anyways? to dampen the vibration? to act as a plate so that even pressure could be distributed from the brake piston? (thats all i could think of)

what do u guys think?

(where is the forum god named boilermarker1?) haha

haha those metal plates on the back of the pad *might* be shims  its just for noise reduction mainly.

well, i emailed HAWK and they replied with:

No shim would be necessary. Please use the grease that came with the pads.
Thank you for your support in Hawk Performance.
