Tip on locking driver's door with stock power locks Maybe everyone knows this, but I just discovered a new way of locking the driver's door: with one hand, pull on the door handle while hitting the power lock button. Before, I was hitting the power button to lock 3 doors, then pulling on the handle while depressing the driver's door lock (like I did on my 87 Si, which didn't have power locks). Either way, it beats locking the driver's door from the outside. Someone else once posted a tip on how to stop the A/C from turning on when you switch to defrost (I never had a car do that before) and it worked perfectly; write back if you need that tip also. |
That's how I do it. I want to disable the catch for the handle so that I don't have to do this. It doesn't and wouldn't help prevent me from locking my keys in, so I find it a nuisance. If anyone has diabled this catch I would be interested. I'll take a look when I sound-deaden my door (stupid speaker buzz :)isgust |

OVERRIDING A/C: 1) Have the car turned off. 2) Turn vent knob to off (All the way to the left, counter clock wise). 3) Turn temperature knob to full blue (All the way to the left, counter clock-wise). 4) Start car and keep both air recirculation button and A/C button depressed for 7 seconds. 5) Wait for air recirculation button to stop flashing. Thats how I do it too, I owned my 88 Civic for a long time and I hated always using the key so my sister she owns a civic too and she was yeah just pull the handle and press lock and your done. So once I learned that it made things so much easier and saves the lock outside too. I have the EX so I have the remote entry but still I hate having to push lock then the lights flash wearing down the life of my Xtreme bulbs allready had one blow out and got it replaced under warranty luckily. My 2001 Si Coupe dosen't do this too well. If you lift the outer handle while pressing the lock button (on drivers door) then close the door and try to open it the door semi-locks and gets stuck about 3/4" open. I guess I should take it in for the warranty work. I'm just afraid that the dealer will mess my door up tring to fix it. Craig., |
You guy never knew about this locking thiung? LOL |
the locking trick is the same on my old '86 subaru. i don't use that trick with my car now. i just use the remote--much easier. i can't live without it. -jro |
This trick is new to me too ... |
Wow, this is new to me too, thanks, this will be far less annoying. I will prolly still install keyless this summer. |
Thanks for the tips I remeber someone posting on here to fix the ac problem consisted of taking the whole dash apart or something... I'm glad there's an easier way. |
I was reading this post wondering why people were giving "tips" on locking the doors with power locks.... then I realized... None of you have remote locking? JEEEEEZ... I would hate not having that.... I guess that's another one of those "lil things" that I"m glad I got hooked up with when I bought my Civic |
