How often do you change your MT fluid

How often do you change your manual transmission fluid?
I've read that some prefer to change MT fluid every 30k. Some say every 60k and I've read that someone said they change it every other oil change. Wow! That's dedication or someone with boat loads of money.

I changed my MT fluid for the first time at 295,000 miles! That's right 295k with no transmission problems except one winter the shifter was sticking a bit. Shot some WD40 down the shifter and problem solved. Now I do not recommend doing as I did but if you discover that you are a few thousand miles past your interval, I don't think you have to panic. :)

So, how often do YOU change your MT fluid?

2 quarts of manual trans fluid is pretty cheap IMO.

There's a ton of people who end up with input shaft bearing problems.
Could that have been avoided with more frequent fluid services?

I do this with my personal/family Hondas with automatic trans. Our ATF DW-1 is kinda almost free for me LOL

Yes, you are right ezone.
Frequent and on schedule fluid changes is best.
Wouldn't have tried that with an automatic transmission. Whole different ball game.

Oh yeah Listen Neglected Automatic transmissions would never get to 295.000k's the additives in the fluid would of been burnt up a long time ago from Heat. that would of damaged the valve body,Clutches and so on... i changed my 5 speed manual transmission fluid around 70.000kms from the Last drain & Fill the Honda fluid that was last put in was still clear as day. im

sure some additives in the old fluid were near the end of its life though. manual transmissions dont get nearly as hot or overworked as an automatic trans does there by lasting longer always liked the old school 5 speed sticks VS the old school Auto's for that reason and the other was they are peppier on acceleration i can put my foot down and go. without hearing the kabooom vroom downshift sound that a automatic produces lol

Its pretty simple.....just go by what your owners manual recommends you to do, a lot of problems can be avoided if people did just that, instead most people throw them in the glove box and never look at them,

a lot of people never bother with tranny fluid changes until their tranny starts acting up, then they think a fluid change will fix the problem

almost 400,000kms on my original 2005 automatic tranny now
