SOLVED: 2001 Civic EX Coupe - Flaking paint next to window Hi all, I have a minor cosmetic issue with my 01 Civic. The black paint (at least I think it's paint) covering the windowsill at the bottom of my passenger window is flaking off. The same is beginning to happen on the drivers side door. (Images for reference) I am wondering if/how I should scrape off the rest of the black "paint" in order to fully expose the metal underneath. Doing so would allow for a nicer look but I'm not sure if the exposed metal would rust. If I do end up removing the stuff, I'll do it to both doors, in order for them to match. Also, if anyone knows of a better fix, such as how to replace the black covering and where to find a new one, please let me know. Thanks! Edit: I solved my problem by scraping off the old flaking rubber on the window trim and coating the bare trim with PlastiDip. Thanks to GolNat for the suggestion! Finished product (PlastiDip is still drying in the pic) and a before/after comparison can be found here. |
