1994 Civic pcv hoses

Hey guys,

Please refer to this picture for clearer understanding of what i'm talking about, I'm not good with car stuffs.

http://s91.photobucket.com/user/fast...0_E08.gif.html

While doing tune up on my civic, I removed #4, #5, and #6. Both the hoses have cracks, #4 I bought it from honda dealer for $12, and #5 have small puncture which honda dealer wants $55 for that hose. I bought the pcv valve(#6) from autozone for $3.

I didn't buy the #5 hose for $55 and went to autozone to see if they have the hose and they said they don't have this particular hose.

Anybody know where to get this hose for cheaper price? I'm not ready to spend $55 for a small hose unless there is no other choice.

Thanks

Try that catalog link above. I picked a random car, hope it's close to yours.
#5 list price looks cheaper than they are telling you, and you can always check real MSRP prices using internet catalogs...and many dealers are more than willing to sell at wholesale prices online (but shipping may kill the deal).

Any hose you consider would need to be oil resistant or else it can eventually swell and get mushy and collapse shut under vacuum. You'll have to research the products you linked above. There seems to be various different blends for silicone hose...Those say vacuum lines so IDK if that would be ok or not for oil.

(PCV = will contain oil mist or vapor)

If you go for bulk black hose at a parts store there should be wording on the hose saying it's for 'PCV' or something like 'oil air and fuel' or something along those lines to indicate it''s compatible for use with petroleum products AND ok for engine compartment temperatures.
Bulk hose will probably be kinda stiff and may want to kink if you bend it, the factory hose is pre-formed in the right shape.
You can buy springs that the hose slides through so you can make tight bends without kinking.
Try a NAPA or a parts store that caters to the professionals and isn't open on Sunday.

Cool thanks.

I'll try NAPA tomorrow and see if they have it.

Also, I found pcv hose on ebay that look very similar to mine but they are for Integra and Del Sol

Do you think that will fit my civic? The length looks about right.

Thanks for the help :D

I have no way of knowing.

Did you google/ebay/amazon search for your Honda part number ?

Re: 1994 Civic pcv hoses

Seems like my part is 11856-P06-A00
and the one from the eBay for del sol/integra is 11856-P30-000

Amazon has my hose but ships in 2 - 3 weeks @ $35

A lot of Google search brought back from variety of vendors ranging from $32 to $47 including shipping and handling.

Ebay doesn't have 11856-P06-A00.

I'll try NAPA like you said tomorrow and if they don't have it, i'll get one from the vendor from Google search.

Thanks

They probably won't have the exact pre-formed hose like from Honda. They should have bulk hose on a roll that would probably work and be compatible with oil/PCV..I suggested them because you said DangerZone didn't have any.

If a short length of hose would have to bend and kink between the two fittings on the engine, maybe get enough hose to make a big loop?

That's a good idea but the pcv valve is the 90 degree type so I'm not sure going over all the obstacles would work.

Visit a hydraulic supply store and get a high pressure Hydraulic hose from them. I bought some rated at 100 psi for $2 a foot. I believe I used it for a fuel line and Car Quest wanted $10 a foot and the psi was rated much lower if memory serves me correctly.

Reporting:

I went to NAPA and they have the generic pvc hose. I got 2 feet of it so i can do the loop as suggest and it came out to $1.87. Holy hell that's cheap.

I turned the pcv valve to the front of the engine and connect the hose there to form the loop back to the intake manifold. If I don't turn the pcv valve to the front and connect to the back, I would have to bend the hose like the pre-bend Honda hose which sucks because there is barely any space there to put my hand in.

If anybody runs into this problem. NAPA is the place to get your hose.

Thanks all for the help and suggestions.
