Blower making noise

Hello,

My ac/heating blower has been making noise for a few months; it sounded like something was stuck inside, so I usually just put the fan up to 4 to blow it loose, and that worked. A few months ago I even pulled a piece of styrofoam out of one of the vents.

Last week, the bottom two fan speeds stopped working. So I diagnosed a broken blower resistor and replaced that today.

Well now, the lower speeds work again, but the blower is making horrible noises and screeching at all speeds.

Do you think something is stuck in the blower? Is that possible?

ETA: I took out the blower motor, and it had a few leaves inside, so I took them out and plugged it back in. It still squeals.
But the motor looks fine from the outside. Should I open it up?

If it squeals, the motor probably needs replaced.

Unless you think you can take it apart and lube the bearings somehow.

Ah, thanks.

Further on that topic, do you think the blown motor is what made the resistor blow, or is it just coincidence that both happened at the same time.

Probably coincidence, or maybe not.

It's an OLD car, things go bad and break. It's the natural cycle.

Cool.

Should I vacuum out the ducts before I put the new one in? Can I stick a vacuum up the hole where the motor goes?

Or take out a vent and stick it in there?

When my 05 fan got noisy I drilled a 1/4" hole the plastic cone to access the top bearing to lube (tri-flow) it would work for a short time and the noise would soon return.
