My first Honda Hello Everyone, I just bought me a 1993 Honda Civic Si hatchback with 158k km. Great car, I love it. I am new to all this tuning and import stuff but so far I like all the potential it has. Heres a little info about my car. 1993 Honda Civic Si Hatchback 1.6L SOHC Vtec Cold Air Intake Mugen front Lip Mugen Exhaust D2 Racing Lowering Springs with Tokico Shocks Other than that, its all stock, I am just a little confused on the engine. The engine is marked D16Z6, which from what I have researched is a 1.6 SOHC Vtec. However, the block is not marked Vtec. I have also read that back in 1993 Honda did not mark Vtec on the head of its SOHC engines. If anyone has answers to this please reply. |
Re: My first Honda You are correct, the head doesn't show it is a VTEC. But the D16Z6 engine did not come in your generation Civic, from what i know. I may be wrong. So the previous owner might have done a full engine swap. But the engine went through a mini-me swap (putting a VTEC head on a non-VTEC block) since the block says it isn't a VTEC engine. Other than that, great set up! Definately sounds like a fun car to drive. |
Re: My first Honda 92-95 civics ex and si's come stock with a d16z6, which has vtec on the top of the engine (valve cover), not on the block. google and wiki is your best friend. enjoy that car, not enough of em' left around these days.. |
Re: My first Honda I have a 92 civic ex that came stock with a d16z6, 1.6 SOHC V-TEC. d16z6 is stamped on the block and it doesnt have "V-TEC" on the valve cover. |
