Convert to Manual or Not to Convert?

I got a 1993 honda civic ex sedan, that car is in excellent condition with 170,000 miles. I was wondering if it is worth the risk of converting to a manual so I could drop a new engine in it to get some speed out of my civic. And if I was to convert what would be the best way to get the parts?

from what i hear its a pain in the ass converting. you gotta get trans, linkage, clutch parts, a manual ecu, and wire in a bunch of crap with the clutch to only let it start with the clutch in and reverse lights and stuff... id just go find a stick with a bad motor and buy that and then build since ur puttin in a new motor anyways

The Best way to go is to sell yours for around 5gs and get an ex-v, that way you get both a man trans and a vtec motor

If i buy a used car with a bad motor what about the trans? Will a new motor cause the trans to bust faster, or is it better to get a new motor and trans?
