Upper Timing belt cover mount missing 4 Attachment(s) Just bought a 2000 VP sedan. My husband had to change the valve cover gasket and while doing so inspected the timing belt. The right side bolt for the upper cover is missing and there is nothing for it to bolt to if were there. Something is obviously missing as the belt is just slightly exposed. Can anyone help? Maybe post a picture of the same area? All stock Civic. |
Re: Upper Timing belt cover mount missing Looks like a chunk of plastic cover is missing.. Item #8 in the parts diagram below Someone probably had it apart (for whatever reason) and forgot to put it back on before the cam gear was installed, then decided it's too much work to make it right. Or maybe it was broken and left off. http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...S04AE1100B.gif |
Re: Upper Timing belt cover mount missing Thanks |
Re: Upper Timing belt cover mount missing So looks like we'll have to get the timing belt done to get the cover on. Do you have a recommendation on a belt? OEM Honda or aftermarket? |
Re: Upper Timing belt cover mount missing It's up to you....just remember if anything goes sour in the timing belt area and it jumps time, the engine can bend valves....... so weigh your options carefully..... I work for a dealer, I trust genuine Honda parts, but aftermarket has some good choices too. |
