1998 Civic trunk well/bed HELP Hey guys, so I recently gutted my trunk down to the metal. My plan is to place the spare tire for the first time into my trunk. After I am making a new trunk board that has hinges to get at the spare tire but will be holding my subwoofer and amp. The only thing is I dont know if I should leave the spare loose in case it decides to slide or fasten it, if possible. In the trunk (and in pictures) there is a bracket like thing in the center that would seem to hold a rod that holds the tire down. Is that correct? I dont have anything but the tire though... Look forward to the help. Thanks :) https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-3...165432_237.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-H...165522_276.jpg |
Re: 1998 Civic trunk well/bed HELP It's like a 6" bolt with a big wing nut on the end and a 'washer' that's about 4" in diameter. In a rollover scenario you want as much bolted down as possible. I think you have to be a in rollover to really understand why though. |

I understand what you mean. That tire will crush anything in the trunk in a rollover. Do you know if there is a replacement part from honda? |

Uh, I think if you're in a rollover situation, crushing stuff in your trunk would be the least of your worries. |
