exhaust leak

I have a small leak in my exhaust about half way back under the car where
there seems to be a seam in the pipe. I would like to put something on it or around it temporarily to stop the noise. Would some liquid solder work or is there a clamp I could buy or make to go around the pipe. 98 civic lx is the car. thanks

Re: exhaust leak

If it is at a flange connection cut the old bolts out replace the crush seal with OEM one and new stainless bolts from Home Depot. Don't bother with the temp stuff it stinks and doesn't work.

It's not at the flange, its about halfway down along the pipe that goes all the way back to the muffler, more like a weld seam that I understand fails quite normally.

Google "exhaust sleeve clamp". You'll need something hi-temp to fill the edges. Depending on the size of the hole the muffler shop can usually fill it pretty cheaply. Good luck.

Re: exhaust leak

Or there is always exhaust tape.. kinda like duct tape, but high heat and made to easily fix exhausts.

Re: exhaust leak

or u can use a tin can trick
where u buy those chef boyaredee cans
cut them so u can wrap around the exhaust pipe
then use 3 clamps
1 at each end and 1 in the middle
after that then ur golden.
my dad did this trick so he can pass inspection and it does work for a while at least to get through the season
