7th Gen Thermostat Hi, I need a thermostat but don't know what temp to get. I can see different ones for sale ranging from 170ºF to 192ºF. I have the 1.7L, auto trans. Would appreciate any help. |
Re: 7th Gen Thermostat I need a thermostat but I need a thermostat Honda part # 19301-PLC-315 comes with gasket You could remove your old stat and see what number is stamped on it If I were forced to pick an aftermarket stat I'd want a hot one, like 195 |
Re: 7th Gen Thermostat No shit, but a thermostat is cheap, easy and quick to do. Head gasket is a LOT more time consuming. |
Re: 7th Gen Thermostat And if you really need a head gasket then a thermostat is a waste of money... |
Re: 7th Gen Thermostat If it were me I'd be testing to see if it needs the thermostat. Like ezone said it probably needs the head gasket |
Re: 7th Gen Thermostat You know guys if you don't know you can just say so, or better still say nothing and stop wasting my time thinking someone here might have an answer. |

Hondas service information specs won't even answer your question the way you want it answered. It's probably a lot quicker to just take out your old stat and see what's stamped on it. (it will be in Celsius if original, surely google can convert that number to *F for you) Stock Honda stat is pretty damn reliable most of the time......I replace about zero to one per year--- unless maybe one gets included with a head gasket job or some other overheated engine repair. I don't ever have to look for a temperature rating, we only use Hondas parts. My own car runs a pretty consistent 201*F at 80 MPH for hours on end. What do you think my stat is rated for? (I don't know what it really is, but I know damn well it's not stamped 201*F) Fk. Buy the 180 and see what happens. Or don't. |
Re: 7th Gen Thermostat people buy aftermarket stats and then have problems, that's why it was suggested to buy the oem one |
